Organizational Theory - MBA - Semester Project
project overview
The learner shall identify and describe a confirmed merger/acquisition, requiring thorough analysis of the various issues that impact your human resources. The task of the Learner is to develop a plan that anticipates the confirmed organizational changes and its impact on functions, tasks, and other related issues to assure a smooth transition for both organizations and their respective personnel groups. The final project should reflect the position of the acquired organization. Final projects must reflect and incorporate concepts and elements of both theory and practical application presented in the five preceding workshops.
a. Organizational Theory Paper
Mergers, Inc.(is Company A) has just announced that its shareholders approved the acquisition of your company (is Company B). As a department manager in the acquired company, you are tasked to start the process of creating the changes necessary to make the merger/acquisition succeed. You are being held accountable for maintaining your department’s performance measures while dealing with the human elements of this situation.
Reflect and catalogue the organizational theory issues such as organizational design, organizational structure, and strategy that you feel most need to be addressed in your department during this merger/acquisition. In a 1,050-1,750-word paper, choose one of these issues and frame it, explaining how, as management, you would research and evaluate this issue. Include in your analysis a list of steps you would take and questions you would ask to investigate the issue objectively. Recommend a strategy for successfully dealing with this issue. What can you do to motivate your employees to change? What are the issues you expect to face? What are the human elements that arise out of an acquisition?
This portion of the project is due in Week Six.
