PROJECT SUMMARY
This project is for 50 communities in the remote area of the Northern part of Sierra Leone. For the past ten years, there has been an increase in water-related diseases due to lack of access to safe drinking water leaving hundreds of families vulnerable to illness and poor nutrition, affecting children's learning, health, and play. So, I have been charged with the responsibilities to oversees 250 constructions of hand pump well in these deprived communities by the end of 2020
PROJECT RATIONALE
The consequences of unsafe drinking water in this part of the country can't be overemphasized, People in these communities covered a long distance to fetch water for their daily use.
Lack of access to clean and safe drinking water can lead to waters related diseases.
The success of this project will help to improve on the standard of living in these communities.
IN-SCOPE
Primarily focus on 50 communities in the northern part of Sierra Leone
Educate communities members on the rationale of the project, the project expectation, and their contribution
A pre-work survey done together with communities by project team member.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Unsafe and Unreliable drinking water leads to:
Diseases such as Cholera, Typhoid, Dysentery, Guinea worm to name but few.
An economy burden to the parent
Child labor increase
PROJECT GOALS
The project goal is:
Provide safe and reliable drinking water for the people in 50 communities.
Constructions of handpump wells
Build a training program to improve on awareness for safe drinking water
Provide training on maintenance of handpump.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Increase access to safe drinking water to 50 communities in the Northern part of Sierra Leone.
Educate communities member on the importance of hygiene
Easy access to pure drinking water
Reduction in water-related diseases
Children have more time to play and studies
Improvement in grades
