Scope Management

Scope Management

PART A

The homebuilding project is focused on establishing the building and ensuring that the establishment meets all the standards needed in house planning. The project’s scope is based on scope definition, scope verification, and scope control. Each of the highlighted elements is developed individually but with a common goal of ensuring the project’s success. In defining the scope, the following steps are followed.

Step

Details

1. Defining the project objectives

These are the desired targets by the end of the home-building project. The plan will be focused on the attainment of the set objectives. The objectives of this project include:

· Ensuring the client gets a dream house.

· Ensuring the homebuilding project is completed as per the client’s preferences.

· Ensuring the project is completed within the anticipated time.

· To create a cost plan that seeks to minimize the overall cost of setting up the building.

· To ensure all variables, including legal compliance, are followed in the implementation of the project.

2. Creation of a resource plan

This involves a plan that determines the resources available and how the resources will be acquired. This allows the project team to choose the available resources before drafting the plan. It also acts as a guide in determining the estimated cost of establishing the building (Ajmal et al., 2019).

3. Collecting additional project requirements

This involves determining essential elements that are needed in early project planning. Also, this involves determining contingent factors that may affect the project later during the implementation of the project.

4. Drafting project scope statement

This will entail an overall summary of the project scope and the objectives the plan aims at achieving at the end of the project period.

5. Getting approval from the stakeholders

The client will be the primary stakeholder in seeking approval. This is necessary for ensuring the project scope will not be changed during the implementation of the project to prevent the probability of occurrence of scope creep.

6. Establishing a change control process, if necessary

This can be used as a change management plan to ensure that if there is a mandatory or essential need to change the project scope, it will be done to ensure the project's objectives are met.

7. Sharing the project scope with the team.

After the project manager receives the stakeholders ' approval, the project scope is shared with the other team members.

8. Making references to the project scope statement during the project period.

Regular events of references to the project scope are necessary to ensure the project is protected from scope creep.

In verifying the project scope, the client will be consulted to determine the level of acceptance based on the features offered in the project. This involves demonstrating whether all the variables involved in designing the building were incorporated into the project scope and whether there is a need to make adjustments.

Quality control is performed to evaluate the project results in deliverables and outputs project control. This is done to verify whether the quality standards defined in the project management plan comply with the program’s implementation. The client is considered the leading end-user of the primary project in this process. This is because the project's main objective is to ensure the maximization of customer experience, which is attained by providing the project implementation process follows the scope strictly.

PART B

To develop a custom home building for the client, Mark Gordon, for five months starting on 1st May 2022 at his residential area, with the bu, including being strictly for his own and family residential purposes.

The scope statement answers the ‘who’ question by stating the client’s name as the primary stakeholder or owner of the project. It says the project’s goal is to construct custom homebuilding. The third question is ‘why,’ which is answered by stating the project’s primary purpose for residential purposes. Also, the ‘when’ question is answered by saying the period at which the project is to be implemented. Lastly, the ‘where’ question is answered by defining the location at which the project is implemented. The project scope also explains what is in by detailing the project’s main elements in that it deals strictly with the construction of the custom homebuilding. This eliminates other tasks that do not fit within the custom homebuilding.
