Adeline Desalination Plant

This plant was built in two phases as it has been in operational since 2012. The plant has been operating continuously since it was completed and has delivered more than 13- gigaliters of desalinated drinking water into the SA water supply network

Project initiation

The project initiation phase explains why the launch of Adeline Desalination Plant is essential and outlines how it’s going to add some value to the community at large and this can be analyzed from the different aspects.

Project scope which is an important asp t should be considered as this would help in identifying the role of the project and this would also be used in analyzing the success factor of the project. Secondly, stakeholders’ identification is also an important aspect as this helps in identifying the stakeholders and their essential roles in this project. This would be vital as it helps in attaining the information and improves communication on a timely basis. Stakeholders in this case include the employees and the customers (Gunduz and Almuajebh, 2020, p.1990).

Funding is another aspect which means the estimation of funds that is needed in the management of the entire project from the planning phase to the execution phase as this should be a successful launch which needs to be conducted. The appropriate sources that would attain these sources should also be identified with respect to the time and the appropriate mode of payment.

Project planning

As per the theory of project management, the success factors are essential in ensuring that the project is completed and achieves the project mission. All these factors aim at ensuring that the project is a success and ascertain that the project continues efficiently. These include;

Skilled project tem and knowledgeable managers of the project

Having an expert team project and a knowledgeable manager would play an essential role in the success of the project. Employing skilled project team and the management ensures that all the challenges have been mitigated in the mean-time and ensures that work is conducted in an efficient manner. As per the leadership theory, we note that having experienced project managers is very beneficial as this management would both be efficient as they are knowledgeable in their expertise and may also have been leaders in the given project (Medek, 2019).

Smart planning

In this project, the team should incorporate a smart planning process which is essential for the project success as it works to effectively complete the project work in an efficient manner. Smart planning has been helpful as we note that Adeline Desalination Plant was able to meet the required deadline that was projected in its completion. These smart planning also is helpful in keeping track of the different activities in the project and taking into consideration the role of the stakeholders in ensuring that the project is a success (Massyn and Crafford, 2016, 257).

Open communication

Adeline Desalination Plant project manager developed an open communication which allows all the members of the team and projecting the different stakeholders. Taking into account the effectiveness of open communication, the management has worked tirelessly and ensured that he has managed the different conflicts and any arising issues among the team members which show that an open communication is working effectively as a success factor.

Adeline Desalination Plant project (Failure project)

However the implementation of the Adeline Desalination Plant project has failed due to poor project governance as there are cases of delayed shipments and it was also unprocessed. There are different failure factors and this are included below.

Poor preparation and planning

The poo preparation and planning of the Adeline Desalination Plant project has been the major cause of the project work failure as the project manager may not have listed the required resources and the expectations of the customers and projecting it in an efficient manner.

Bad leadership

Leadership roles in any given project are an essential aspect for the project success. For instance management takes up important roles in the organization and ensures that the project team is working effectively and in an efficient manner. The project leaders in that not have to ensure that they are up to the tasks and the role required by them in ascertaining that the project team would work effectively (Galli, 2017, p.2)

Ethical or culture misalignment

The Adeline Desalination Plant project may have violated some ethical and the cultural consideration of the project work and this has an effect on the motivational level of the team members which also projects much towards the project failure.

Lack of effective communication

Having noted the essential aspects of communication in a given project, the team manager needs to create an effective communication platform which would work for the success of the project and lack of a proper and effective communication would highly lead to the failure of the project as this creates a conflict between the stakeholders and the team members at large (Muszyńska, 2016, p.1180).

Ethical consideration for the project management

According to the ethical consideration theory, we have different considerations of the project management as assessed below and all this need to be integrated in the different steps of the project management as this also helps in ensuring that the project work is completed successfully as per the expectations. This includes; promoting good decision making, reducing the risk of the project, ensuring that the scheduling of the project and designing of the timeline, ensuring that honesty is at par among the project team members, maintaining trust and the faith on all the team project members and working to reduce the stress and anxiety as this is effective in reducing the rate of turnovers in the projects and enhancing the business relationships at all times (Ramanayaka et al. 2020, p,10).

Impact of the ethical consideration on the Adeline Desalination Plant project

If the ethical considerations are implemented in the right manner, this means that the project will be successful as the project would not succeed in the event such as the code of ethics may be responsible for holding the accountability of the project as this would ascertain that the work decisions may be attained successfully the code of ethics may would also be responsible to increase the revenues of the organization as this would improve the profits and also improve honesty in their communication. This would also help in developing a mutual respect, confidence among all the stakeholders and the project team. This would also promote fairness in their decision making process and ensure that all the tasks have been completed inn different aspects and in the desired manner as this would help in improving the success or the failure of the project in hand (Mills and Robson, 2019).

This shows that ethical consideration in the Adeline Desalination Plant project are essential and critical as supposing that this factors may not be taken into account, then it would be hard for this project to be completed successfully. This is essential to note that all this aspects are critical for the project management.

Project Control

In the Adeline Desalination Plant project, controlling has also worked effectively in ensuring that project is a success as this aspect has been helpful to the team project and the stakeholders in evaluating and checking the project working progress from time to time. Hence this aspect has been effective as a success factor in this project keeping track of the project. For project monitoring and control it is essential to note and observing the report tasks on each aspect and activity from time to time. It’s essential to keep the stakeholders updated of the different aspects by communicating to them and being transparent of the ongoing activities. In that note, a sub team under the supervision of the project team has to work regularly as this would help in monitoring the project performance and ensure the best contingency plan is adopted as this would help in mitigating risk management in achieving the KPI’s under the different activities (Shin et al. 2018, p.972)

Risk Management

Risk management is also another factor implemented in this project in ensuring that the project would be a success in its completion. This is essential as it’s important to always take into consideration the possible risk that would affect the project success. In the so doing, this would be able to attract for the possible mitigating factors that would be effective to guide project success. In the same manner, it may not be effective for the project to be completed on time and in a successful manner (Kumalakov et al. 2018. P.16).

Project closure

The strong project closure has also taken into consideration the aspect of the success aspects in the project as this confirms the project testing, project delivery and the consumer requirements. For a strong closing project, the project manager has conducted the different surveys among consumes of Australia to ensure that this project will attain the needs of the citizens and would be closed and opened for the Australian citizens. The closure phase requires that Adeline Desalination Plant project team to document all aspects that may be observed and all the aspects that may not have been planned as this would help in bringing in knowledge of the respective authorities. At this point, the means and the methods that may help in reporting in all the activity and the tasks need to be predetermined by the project head. Also it would be effective if after completion of these tasks the report need to be submitted by the team in performing the specified activities (Palmer, 2016, p.2016).
