The Gates are looking for an extension on their home that will provide them with extra space and an area to provide movie theater experience for themselves and or guests. By the end of this project the family will be able to provide entertainment for up to 30 people.

This extension to the home will add aesthetic appeal to the existing structure. It is deemed sufficient when homeowners are able to add square footage to the building as the end result will increase the value of the property. Lastly the guests of the property owners will be pleased in a room that offers entertainment.

Life Cycle Cost Ramifications:

Financially this will result in a high cost up front but a cheaper alternative to purchasing a new home. No other method adds more space to a home than an addition. Investment value can yield an increase in the value of the home that could potentially recover the costs of the addition based on the buyer’s market for houses.

Homeowners will experience an emotional enjoyment factor. The same will apply to 3rd party visitors as they will feel this way as well.

Building on top of the existing structure was considered but ruled out due to added costs of cranes and lack of foundation strength. This approach was far less convenient than building beside the structure.

If the family get involve in other projects, it may not be able to provide the money needed on time. If the government decide to stop the work because the design doesnot match the design of the entire area. if the Environmental Beautification Organization likes the design and decided to support the project with money.

The weather is not appropriate for the workers to start the building process (raining, snowing, or storms).

The Materials and resources are not available on the assigned time.

Limited resources that needed to build the room. The possibility that there is a heavy raining that may stops the work for many days. The possibility of increase the prices of the materials needed which will cause a budget imbalance.

The employees get sick or gets in any other emergency situations that prevent them from continue working. There is a tree right next to the room, if a strong wind came it may damage many parts of the home, especially if it cause a tree to fall.
