Total value:

• 40 points o Part 1: Design reflection paper

▪ 20 points o Part 2: Wireframe of imagined online portfolio

▪ Points associated within the reflection paper and wirefame sections

General grading guidance:

1. We will be grading your projects based off of 2 guidelines: perceived effort and followed

instructions. Both are of equal importance.

• Perceived effort: o This takes into account the overall presentation of your project, spelling,

grammar, proof reading, etc. If your project is well put together, easy to

understand, and looks/sounds professional, you should score well in this area.

• Followed instructions: o This takes into account if you did what was asked of you by the instructions

document. Did you include all the required elements? If you did, you should do

well in this area.

2. After you submit your work, your project must stand alone. Meaning, it must communicate

everything you intend to say to us in regard to this project. If it doesn’t, you need to continue

polishing it until it does. We won’t have the benefit of you explaining your work to us when we

grade it.

3. No one will be allowed to resubmit work for regrading. You get 1 opportunity to turn work in;

turn in high quality work.

4. Design is subjective. Therefore, grading is also subjective. The AIs come with their own

understandings of each topic space (and personal perspectives). Therefore, if you’re not detailed

enough in your project (meaning they cannot understand what you’re talking about) it will be

reflected in your grade. You will always receive written feedback with every submission in the

form of design feedback and critique.

Partial/no citations and/or partial/no Attributions page/Works Cited page:

• Results in an automatic 0 on the full project and a mandated in person meeting with Joanna will be required immediately.

Project 5: (Final Project) Overall formatting:

• Overall file submission type: PDF (1 file containing all 3 parts) o Clearly label each section so we know what information is contained on each

page.

• Standard paper size: 8.5 x 11 – don’t use a larger page size

Part 1: Design Reflection Paper:

Requirements:

For this paper I’m asking you to speak about 2 things:

1. Present an account of yourself as a user experience designer/interaction designer – i.e., who do you think you are as a designer?

2. Talk about what you think design is as an overall field and/or speak about your design process.

For either (or both) sections, sketches are okay to include to help support what you’re talking

about – appropriately inline cite and provide their full citations in your Works Cited Page.

Further explanation:

• You must reflect and draw upon your own experiences from this class (primary resource). You may draw from past, relevant experiences too (optional).

o If you directly/indirectly cite a lecture and/or conversation, inline cite those and provide its full citation information in your Attributions Page/Works Cited Page.

• This reflection paper is your opportunity to reflect on what you have learned in I300 this semester.

• To brainstorm your take on your design process, you might want to consider issues such as: defining/scoping the problem space; design research (primary and/or secondary); user

research (primary and/or secondary); brainstorming; sketching; design critique; etc.

As long as you’re utilizing what you’ve learned from this semester and/or through your own

exploration within the field of HCI, you’re on the right path for this paper. This is your chance to

be reflective and to be honest in your reflection.

Format:

• Minimum of 500 words; maximum of 800 words – be thoughtful about what you choose to include. Edit yourself and only include what you think absolutely deserves to be in

your paper.

o This is a short paper so you will have to be selective in what you include in it. Use the space wisely and don’t leave out anything you feel is extremely important to

include. Meaning: find a way to include everything you want to include but stay

within the word count.

• Format the reflection paper like a paper and give it an informative title

• PDF format only

• Attach your reflection paper to your Part 2 and Part 3 so you’re turning in a singular file.

Part 2: Wireframe of Imagined Online Portfolio:

Requirements:

Create a wireframe of your imagined online portfolio. You DO NOT have to actually create the

website, nor do we want you to create a website. Our goal is to see your wireframes rather than

having you actually build it out. Your wireframes must include:

1. Home page 2. Project page (showcasing your work) – include at least 2 projects that you’ve done that

you’re proud to represent you (work from this class, another class, or a side hobby is fine)

3. PLUS one additional page of your choosing with example content/layout for that page

Further explanation:

• For each wireframe you must provide a 100-200 word supportive write up thoroughly explaining what your wireframe is showcasing and why you’re showing it to us. Meaning

you’ll have 3 of these supportive write ups total.

o Reminder: You will not be there to explain your wireframes to the AIs when they grade it. This is your opportunity to explain your drawings (i.e, support your

drawings).

• You may choose to create hand sketched and/or digital wireframes. o If you hand draw your wireframes, make sure your images can be fully and

clearly seen. If we cannot make out all of the details, your grade will reflect this.

Recommendation is to scan your images rather than take pictures.

• Inline cite and full cite ALL of your images as primary citations.

• You must create moderate to high fidelity level wireframes. o You have several weeks to work on this assignment so your wireframes should

reflect this amount of time. It should also be filled in with enough detailed

information to understand what is being showcased within them. This means

providing sample, filled in content.

• Think critically about what you want to include in your portfolio. Typically, one can expect to see: about me, projects, skills, experiences, education, etc.

• Consider this to be a fun, explorative assignment where your personality is allowed to come through. Let it represent you as an individual.

Format:

• No provided template – choose the best layout. PDF format only

• Do not use a pre-created template from an online source (i.e., a WIX template or something of this likeness); show us how your wireframes look to you via your own

perspective without the aid of an outside, guided source.

• Attach your wireframes to your Part 1 and Part 3 so you’re turning in a singular file.

Part 3: Attributions Page/Works Cited Page:

Requirements:

• Create an Attributions Page/Works Cited Page for your full citations. Include all information you’ve used in your project – both primary and secondary resources/images.

• You may use any citation style you want to use but stay consistent. o Our class format is also okay.

• Use as many pages as needed for this portion.

• PDF format only

• Attach your Attributions Page/Works Cited Page to Part 1 and Part 2 so you’re turning in a singular file.
