Background

You have been doing a lot of informing so far. At this point, you should be ready to move on to analyzing and-- afterward-- arguing. This assignment gives you an opportunity to do both because it has two parts. It is also your opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of rhetoric and genre more now that you have been learning about and using them so much.

Assignment:

Write a rhetorical analysis in which you analyze the rhetoric of an advertisement for a product related to the topic you have been writing about all quarter (this may be a print ad, an online ad, or a short commercial). Then, record yourself (audio and video) giving a pitch to an advertising agency for an ad for the same product that would be just as good or better than the ad you analyzed.

Requirements Checklist

· Rhetorical analysis is 1,000-1,500 words

· Pitch is 2-4 minutes long

· Both represent rhetorical choices made for an identifiable audience

· Both are structured, written, and formatted to suit the audience

· Both conform to their respective genre norms

· Are both meticulously edited and proofread
