1 Project

For the project component of the course you will

� chose a topic of interest to you (regarding the environment).

� research the topic.

� learn the theoretical tools of environmental economics (via the online lec- tures, textbook, etc.).

� form a position (i.e. opinion) based on your research and understanding of environmental economics.

� record a presentation and write an essay supporting your position.

1.1 Presentation assessment

� Clear statement of your area of interest (2 marks) (it is ok if you have not formed your position by this point)

� Summary of your research findings (4 marks)

� What theoretical tools are relevent? (4 marks)

1.2 Essay assessment

� Clear statement of position: I should be able to easily tell what your position is. (5 marks)

� Facts (citing sources) that support your position and why they support your position. (10 marks)

� Application of the tools of environmental economics: here you demon- strate what you learned from the online lectures and why it supports your position. (10 marks)

� Clarity of writing, logical structure of essay, spelling, grammar. (5 marks)
