Infographic Project

Criteria

· Create a new and unique infographic using data and statistics to compel the reader to action.

· No part can be anywhere on the internet in order to get credit.

· No part of the infographic is copied (plagiarized*).

· Infographic can be about any topic interesting to you (within DU guidelines) given:

· Must be a novel solution using a new or existing technology with future impact (beyond 2030).

· Must explain how technologies of the future (4th industrial revolution) may be employed.

· Infographic must include a premise and a call to action (problem and solution).

· It must compel the viewer want to take some action.

· This ‘call to action’ is persuasive based on the data and storyline provided.

· For example: An infographic about EWaste includes data about EWaste that explains the magnitude of the problem, offers a solution, and compels the reader want to take action about reducing EWaste using technology.

· The data should be used to Inform the reader:

· The scope (size, breadth, extent of treatment, activity, or influence) of the problem or idea.

· The importance of the solution, remedy, or action.

· You can include suggestions on types of action people can take.

· Infographic Elements

· Must include at least 4 charts created by you from the data you found in your research.

· Infographic must include at least 8 significant data items, facts, or statistics.

· This totals 12 elements in all (8 significant statistics and 4 charts) that do not overlap.

· All charts must be created within the tool and not ‘lifted’ or copied from the web.

· Infographic must reflect true and accurate data.

· All data must be real data from a verifiable and credible source.

· Please add the source(s) of the data in a separate citation word document.

· Infographic must be turned in two ways:

1. .gif, .jpeg, or .png.

2. .pdf

· Size Requirements:

· Infographic MUST BE Exactly 11 x 25.5 inches (same size as 3 pages landscape saved as one file) as per the print preview in the .pdf file.

· Each file must be below 3 GB in size (see diagram at the end of this document).

· Software: You can use any infographic software you like; however, each has its drawbacks.

· Suggestions: PowerPoint, Word, Picktochart, Tableau, Canva, or any other tool. (Canva is popular because of downloading and printing capabilities available with no extra charges).

· It is your responsibility to make sure that the image file (.gif, .jpeg, or .png.) and PDF file are each downloadable as one file each.

· Make sure your infographic looks like an infographic!

· It needs to be easy to read and understand

· It tells a story

· It must have a call to action

· It must have impact beyond 2030 using some technology of the future.

Outcome

· Requirements: Infographic accepted ONLY if it meets all of the requirements:

1. This is an individual project that required many hours of research and creative work.

2. Infographic is uploaded as one .pdf to the Infographic Project Drop Box

3. Infographic is also embedded as one image file (.gif, .jpeg, or .png) to the Discussion

4. Infographic files are less than 3 GB

5. Infographic is the correct size or aspect ratio 11inches x 25.5 inches. This is the same as 3 pages landscape (11x 25.5). See above.

6. Naming Convention:

· Do NOT include your name on the infographic.

· The file name MUST BE the title of your infographic !!

7. Infographic is other than the correct size, shape, and file types: the students earns a ZERO for the project.

8. The projects will be presented to the class and voted upon by the class.

9. Each student is required to vote on the infographics 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and cannot vote for their own project.

10. Students must vote to earn credit for their project.

11. If you are the winner in your class, it will be your responsibility to print out your infographic for the display window

*Please note that if any of your infographic or a chart is found in any form elsewhere on the internet, the student will receive a 0 as that is considered plagiarism. Be sure to do your research!
