Correctness of Calculations:

Question1 (3 pts),

Question 2 (5 pts),

Questions 3 – 7 (4 pts each)

(28 points total)

25.2 to 28 points

Calculations are correct and use the correct data. Possibly 1 or 2 arithmetic errors occur, but a clear understanding of each conversion is evidenced.

19.6 to 25.1 points

Most calculations are correct. Either a part of the project is left undone or at least one conceptual mistake is made that goes beyond a simple computational error. This could be an incorrect conversion factor or a mistaken formula. Later calculations build on earlier ones, so correctness is always judged by consistency with prior results.

1 to 19.5 points

A significant number of the calculations are conceptually incorrect or not performed. Conceptual mistakes consist of incorrectly applying conversion factors or using incorrect formulas.

0 points

No attempt is made to perform the calculations.

Structure of answers Questions 1 – 2 (1 point each)

Questions 3 – 7 (2 points each)

(12 points total)

10.8 to 12.0 points

Solutions clearly present a column (or a row) for each new set of values requested. Totals for each quantity are clearly displayed in an organized fashion. Numerical values are provided for each question.

8.4 to 10.7 points

At least one column is not clearly and fully displayed. In some cases, the student might have computed a set of values for use in future calculations, but not have adequately displayed them as required. In other cases, some of the values might be missing (particularly the totals).

1 to 8.3 points

Multiple columns are not displayed. Significant pieces of the project are not addressed.
