Similar to the videos above, you will work in a group to identify the below mentioned properties of at least 3 soil samples. You can pick any three sample and test and write a (4/5 pages long) report on your findings. Your report should have pictures of the collection sites, testing and tables if any and many more as needed to demonstrate the properties of the specific soil sample. I am looking for a comparative study of the samples you collected.

To assist you in this process here are some preferred locations. You may choose to pick others if only you are unable to find these locations.

1. Near water bodies

2. Near dumping ground

3. Road side

4. Car wash place

5. Parking lot

6. Green space

7. Brown field

8. Gas station

9. Hospitals

10. Residential backyard

11. Commercial kitchen/restaurant

12. Farm

Between 6 groups all the locations must be covered.

For your testing I am looking for

a. Topsoil Evaluation

b. Classification

c. Organic Content

d. pH value of the soil (alkaline or acidic)

e. composition of your soil

All the sample needs to be stored in a small transparent container like this and presented during demonstration. You can follow the presentation video to perform you tests or any other useful methods. You may also need a trowel and other tools.

Be safe and wear your PPE while you perform your tests.
