Running Head: PROJECT 1

PROJECT 4

Q3: Correlation coefficient of wins and home runs

For an organization to have higher likelihood of making it to the postseason, it has to ensure that it hits the home runs. According to past games, a higher percentage of the teams that were able to qualify for postseason had been leading in the seasonal home runs. Teams that are not able to make it through the home runs are highly likely to be disqualified for the postseason. Even in instances where they are allowed to take part in the postseason, they will mostly likely fail to win the tight competition. Only the best teams are able to lead the home runs and they have higher likelihood to win the postseasons.

Based on the scenario provided, a high percentage of the team is comparison of the organizations that were able to make it through the home run. Only 30% of the teams on the postseason had not made it in the home runs. A higher percentage, 70%, in the postseason teams had made it through the homeruns and into the postseason. Additionally, the 30% of the teams that did not fulfill the postseason qualifications were eliminated because they were deemed not fit since they had failed in the regular season. Qualifying for the postseason is a necessity in making a win in this field (Chicco.et al, 2021). It therefore means that the home run are the key determinant of whether a team is going to make it to the final season.

It is clear that winning and home runs are directly related. There exists a direct correlation between these activities. After running a linear regression an R value of 0.837 was found. The value is quite sizable which implies that the correlation that exists between winning and the home runs is very high. Moreover, the correlation coefficient is a positive value which shows that the relationship between these activities is positive. It is an indication that the capability to make it through the home runs can lead to winning the postseason. Winning basically results from outscoring your opponent but home runs play a support element of ensuring that your team is able to make it to the next stage (Zulqarnain.et al, 2021).

The linear relationship shows that hitting the most home runs is an added advantage on a team that has a winning prospect. It is observed that teams who have hit the homeruns in the regular season are able to maintain a better position in the postseason. Even though there are scenarios where a team hits the home runs and is not able to win the postseason, the chances for winning are higher for such a team unlike those that failed in the regular season. However, the data is sufficient to support a high correlation effect between these two activities. Moreover, a positive relationship indicates that a team has to fulfil the home run hits to be able to make it past this season to hold the winning position. Making it through numerous home run is not a guarantee for success but it sure helps a team make strategies that can potentially lead to winning.
