PROJECT-INSTRUCTIONS.docx

Epidemiology grant

You’re going to design a project by doing study about breast cancer subtypes.

· The goal of your project is to find the basic biology of ER-negative breast cancers and delineation of differences that exist between ER-positive and ER-negative breast cancers in different racial group.

· Factors you’re going to focus on: genetic, epigenetic, molecular and cellular factors (easy to search about them)

· You’ve been given 5 years and a budget of $ 800,000 for your study.

· Write pages according to the outline below

RULES WHILE WRITING:

· EVERY PROGRAPH has to be cited

· Don’t mentions statics without resources

· Don’t focus on 1 racial group, however static of groups are important to be mentioned

· Imagine this project will be given to

· APA Format citation, 12 pt, times new roman

THE OUTLINES (PLEASE FOLLOW THE OUTLINE BELOW IN DETALIS)

1. PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT

2. APPROACH

3. SIGNIFICANCE

Hint: Show statics (SIGNIFICANCE) Why this problem should be looked at and how it will help the future among some racial

4. INNOVATION

Hint: what is the design of the study you’re using and why? A case-control study will be good.

5. ENVIRONMENT

Hint: Where are you doing this study, in the hospital for example?

6. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The goals are already given, just speak about it briefly and add a little bit details

a. The basic biology of ER-negative breast cancers and delineation of differences that exist between ER-positive and ER-negative breast cancers;

b. The identification of the subtypes or heterogeneity that exist within ER-negative breast cancers; and

c. The determination of whether the biology of ER-negative breast tumors differs across racial and ethnic groups.

7. TIMELINE (5 years)

Hint: Speak about what are you going to do within the 5 ears how are you going to measure these people? Every morning ? for the whole 5 years? What do we expect in the begging of the study, middle, end? ..etc.

8. TARGETED of PARTICIPANTS

9. INCLUSION CRITERIA of PARTICIPANTS

10. EXCLUSION CRITERIA of PARTICIPANTS

11. PROJECT PLANS (ANALYSIS/MEASUREMENTS) + METHOD

Hint: Speak about what tool you need to measure you PARTICIPANTS, how often? What is the normal units? What method you’re going to use? How are you going to analyze it? …etc.

12. FACTORS

Hint: Factors you’re going to focus on: genetic, epigenetic, molecular and cellular factors

13. PROTECTIONS FOR HUMAN SUBJECTS

14. BIOHAZARDS

Hint: How are you going to protect participant information? Also speak about the biohazard

15. BUDGET

· Hint: What equipment you need to buy for your measurement tool, what about labs?

· DON’T SPEAK GENERAL. IF YOU SAID YOU WANT TO USE EQUPIMENT PLEASE SPIFCY WHAT ARE THE MACHINE, EQUPIMENT BRAND YOU’RE USING? HOW MUCH ARE YOU GOING TO USE ON EACH? WHO ARE YOU HIRING?

· YOU HAVE TO HAVE A REAK DOWN OF THE MONEY YOURE USING
