Fundamental contribution of nanotechnology to the world

The emergency of Nano technology has helped a great deal in speeding up processes in the manufacturing sector, it has contributed to fastening of activities in the transport, health, information systems etc. making living more easier.

For example in the health sector, nanotechnology has aided in the making of medical diagnostic equipment more accurate, more functional and even faster. This has helped in providing real time lab tests and result delivery thus improved medical care (Piccinni, 2009).

In the pharmaceutical world, nanotechnology has aided in coming up with nanoparticles that help in the absorption of pharmaceutical products within the body more effectively. The nanoparticles also help in the delivery of chemotherapy to the targeted cells for example the cancer cells (Lin, 2008).

In the transport sector, this technology has helped in the manufactures of Nano composite materials with characteristic light weight, more strength and more chemical resistance than metals. This material has been utilized in building corrosion resistant vehicle parts. Another suitable material are the Nano filters which have improved fuel efficiency in vehicles because of their ability to free air of all the airborne particles prior to ignition in the combustion chamber, thus improved gas mileage (Bale, 2005).

In the computer sector, this technology has helped in manufacture of computers which are more powerful, faster and small. They are also characterized with less power consumption and have longer lasting batteries (Bale, 2005).

In the beauty industry, nanoparticle have been used to produce sunscreens which effectively absorb light as well as more dangerous UV rays and are more easily spread in the skin. The same nanoparticle also protects packaged food from effect by direct ultraviolent rays thus enhancing the shelf life (Bensaude-Vincent, 2012).

The Nano clay particles in many water drinking bottles help in increasing resistance towards to inhibit oxygen, carbon (IV) oxide and moisture permeability. The carbonation and pressure of the packaged water are retained hence increasing shelf life (Bale, 2005).

In the security sector, this technology has helped in the development of ideal surveillance and security systems at industries, airports and even labs. This has been possible due to the ability to program chemical sensors in order to detect particular chemicals at very low levels. The Nano sensors have the capability to accurately identify particular body cells or substances on the body hence a vital application in the medical field (Vincent, 2009).

Nanotechnology has contributed largely in the manufacturing due to its reduced size since it has facilitated the automation of many processes which were earlier impossible due to physical restrictions. This has reduced costs on labor, land and other maintenance requirements that were placed on humans (Lin, 2008).

In fabrics, nanotechnology has aided in the nanofibres enhance stain resistance, flame resistance and water resistance with minimal increase in thickness, stiffness and weight of the fabric.

Carbon nanotubes help to make sports equipment which is stronger and lighter, in wind turbine blades, in Boeing Dreamliner. These are as a result of the strong carbon composites (Vincent, 2009).
