Program Evaluation 2 Instructions

Program Evaluation 2 involves the evaluation of a community weight loss center or eating disorder treatment facility and is a three part assignment:

Part One – The Facility Selection: The first part of this assignment will be accomplished during Module/Week 5. For this activity you will select a program on weight loss or eating disorder management within your own community and arrange a facility visit during Module/Week 7. You will submit the name and nature of the facility along with the scheduled visitation date to the instructor by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday of Module/Week 5. Timely submission will earn you 10 points. Once the submissions have been made, the instructor will reassign you to a new group for the next component.

Part Two – The Assessment Tool: Part two of this project will be completed in newly designated groups. Part two involves the design of a new assessment tool for the evaluation of a facility that focuses on the management of eating disorders and/or obesity. The assessment tool should be flexible enough to evaluate any program dealing with weight related issues. The team must consider the complete physical, psychological, intellectual, social, and spiritual well-being of program participants as they develop their assessment in order to determine if a program is adequately meeting a participant’s needs. In addition, the assessment tool must address co-morbidities and sensitivity to diversity. Use the same type of thought processes employed in developing the assessment tool for diabetic children’s camps. Develop a meaningful set of criteria to evaluate the services provided by the facilities your team members will be visiting. These criteria will form the foundation of your assessment tool.

Part two of this assignment is worth 90 points and is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of Module/Week 6. You will each be given the opportunity to evaluate the contributions of your fellow group members to the project. The peer evaluation will determine one third of the total grade (30 points) of this component.

Part Three – The PowerPoint Presentation: During Module/Week 7 you will visit the facility you have chosen. This component is an individual project. Use the assessment tool to ask questions and gather information about the program you are visiting. This information will then be organized into a PowerPoint presentation suitable for professional presentation to the facility manager and staff to highlight program effectiveness and provide recommendations to improve program weaknesses.

The second part of this project is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of Module/Week 8 and is valued at 100 points.
