Evaluation
This week, the first draft of your Proposed Program Evaluation is due. This paper will describe the background of the issue, the target population served, program description, significance of the proposed study, and evaluation methods. You are to describe the existence and significance of the social need or social problem that your human service organization tries to address.
You are required to provide a justification for your evaluation study. Your arguments must be supported by the literature (at least ten peer reviewed articles). For this assignment, you are required to select one or more instruments, dependent measures, inventories, or questionnaires to be identified for data collection. You are also expected to write a detailed data collection and analysis plan. Include a cover letter for evaluation participants and an informed consent form.
Suggested Organization of the Proposed Program Evaluation Paper:
Title page
· Precise, descriptive title;
· Full names of the team members who worked on this paper.
Introduction
· Description of the human services organization;
· Description of the program to evaluate;
· Evaluation questions;
· Significance of the study.
Literature Review
· Current knowledge of the social issue or problem;
· Previous research;
· Gaps to be filled in.
Program Evaluation Methods
· Sampling (who, how many, and how obtained);
· Data collection (informed consent process, compensation, and questionnaire);
· Analytic plan.
List of References
Appendices
· Logic model;
· Cover letter;
· Informed consent form;
· A summary of discussion with the field instructor or the other staff member from the human service organization where the proposed evaluation study is to take place (including potential obstacles to conducting the proposed evaluation).
Additional Guidelines:
Suggested length of the body of the paper (in addition to the title page, reference list, and appendices): 10-12 double-spaced pages (2500 - 3000 words).
Grading
The Proposed Program Evaluation Paper, First Draft is worth 100 points and 10% of the total grade. Your Instructor will provide feedback on your draft.
