PD Digital Presentation and Feedback

Professional learning is a key factor to help the teachers and staff improve according to the modernistic approaches of teaching. Learning has changed with time, which has caused a greater demand on teachers to keep up with the prevalent practices in the field. Leadership is a key factor in developing a professional learning culture in schools (Thomas, et al., 2017). Therefore, my professional development PowerPoint presentation aims to develop and implement a session that can be used by the school staff to share best practices from supplemental learning experiences. After sharing my PowerPoint PD session with my principal, assistant principal, and instructional coach, I received the following feedback with this survey:

Analysis of the Feedback Received

Running head: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSION 1

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSION

After working so hard on a project, it is brutally difficult to receive any negative, yet needful feedback. If nothing else was learned from this experience, it has changed me forever at being so careful with teacher observations. Because of the feedback received, which all three interviewees stated this PD is important, but other PD topics have a higher priority and need. According to Childress (2014), the role of principals is significant in improving professional development instruction and learning by implementing effective teacher education augmentation. Furthermore, principals, additional administrators, and the leadership team have a critical role to play in this regard as they can help maintain the effectiveness of professional learning systems but also keep a positive culture intact. In the future, I will ask my principal and leadership team for three top ideas of what they feel needs to be presented as professional development sessions at our school and then design a course to fit those needs. According to Baum and Krulwich (2017), the school principal, course coordinators, and teachers have to work together to implement the teachings acquired from professional development sessions. This practice will help in mitigating the challenges of implementation of advanced teaching techniques which keep students the center and priority of all learning. As a future principal, I plan on keeping the integrity of this commitment.
