ENGR B47 Introduction to Engineering & Design Assigned: Week 13 Lecture

Professional Development Assignment This will be a printed submission, not an electronic submission. You will turn in a packet containing four components.

You will have (1) an approved, engineering-related job posting (2) a finalized, up-to-date resume (3) a critiqued, rough draft of that resume and (4) a properly-formatted cover letter. This assignment is worth 50 points1

Deliverables 1. Job Posting

• Must be engineering-related • Must be directly from company / institution website (no “aggregators”2) • Must include: contact info, minimum qualifications, job description • You don’t have to be qualified right now • NOTE: You are strongly encouraged to verify posting with instructor • NOTE: Save/print a copy as soon as you find it, they are removed often

2. Finalized Resume (specific to job posting) • Should be one, full page • Should include the elements mentioned in class (contact info, work history, skills, etc.) • Must be free of grammar and spelling errors • May be an expected resume for a future (within 4 years) version of yourself • Must be ORIGINAL (no auto-fill with pre-written content3)

3. Resume Critique from Classmate4 • Must include corrections and comments to rough draft • Must be signed and dated by reviewer

4. Cover Letter • Must be ½ to 1 page in length • Must be formatted properly (including your contact info, their contact info, signature)

Early submission of assignment (Week 15) is strongly encouraged

Submissions that are 1-10 minutes late will receive 50% deduction

Submission over ten minutes late will receive a 0%
