REMINDER: You are expected to have prior knowledge of writing college-level research papers from your prequisite English 1301 course. (You should have completed a research paper using MLA format in your English 1301 course). Project 3 in this course, English 1302, requires 5 sources and 5 pages of your own writing incorporating those 5 sources in a sophisticated way to build a commentary paper. Project 3 requires that you conduct research to find a range of quality sources, read and understand those sources in order to use them, incorporate them within your paper by representing them accurately and citing them, and formatting a Works Cited page with the list of ALL of the sources you used within the paper, whether you quoted them directly or paraphrased from them.  If you need a review of the research-writing process, use your textbook chapter on MLA (yes, there is a sample paper IN your textbook), study the sample paper provided in Blackboard, visit the MLA help center online, link here:   Sample Papers in MLA Style | The MLA Style Center

or discuss the high points with a tutor to build your confidence BEFORE drafting!~

You can also review the handout provided BY OUR LIBRARIANS here:   Home - MLA Style - LibGuides at Texas Wesleyan University   You can explore the many yellow tabs or even email Librarian Dennis Miles at

And when you are ready to EXPLORE YOUR TOPIC, GO do a periodicals search in our library database! Here's a quick link to get you started searching within periodicals/magazines (you'll need to sign in with your same TxWes username and password):   West Library (txwes.edu)

Here is ONE example of a source found quickly using our library search page (take a look at it and then search for your own keywords; try different combinations of keywords, and the librarians are there to chat with you if you need help!)  This is a QUALITY ACADEMIC SOURCE from a scholarly publication, and you could use its findings to support your own position statement on the dangers of young adults' beverage-consuming practices:
