1.2 – Plan and schedule promotional activities according to the marketing needs of the organisation 1.3 – Determine overall promotional objectives in consultation with designated individuals and groups There are likely to be at least two major areas where consultation with individuals and groups to determine overall promotional objectives would be undertaken. These are internal communication and contractors and external groups. Other examples would be colleagues, committees, customers, external organisations, line management and supervisor
Colleagues • external organisations • line management • supervisor
Collaboration with colleagues, which can also include people not employed by your company, will be extremely helpful in guiding you to an informed decision. Collaboration is the basis of groups, focus groups, panels and other creative teams.
Committees are often defined as being a body that keeps minutes and wastes hours. Good committees are those who: • have a clearly defined purpose • are empowered to allow the members to achieve the purpose • take collective responsibility seriously
Once the promotion itself has been decided, the objective will be to make it successful and achieve the desired outcomes.
Customers: Like colleagues, collaboration with customers is a vital piece in determining the best approaches to any promotional objective. We have seen many examples elsewhere on surveys, feedback and other countless methods of approaching and analysing responses from customers.
