One of the challenging things in life is choosing the right clothing for every occasion. In most cases, I prefer official clothes since they are always attractive and suit nearly every occasion in life. However, in this case, I am going to choose different types of business-casual clothing and other accessories. In my domestic clothing supply chain, I will choose mainly business-casual trousers and shirts. I will also choose accessories such as shoes, handkerchiefs, socks, and a belt. Some of the business trousers I will choose are slim-fit trousers, linen, twill, wool, and pleated trousers. I will also choose different types of business-casual shirts, including Oxford-button-down shirt, office, band collar, office and line shirt.

My general location of my chosen suppliers will be in New York, the United States, because there are many brands and companies that sell the type of clothing that I need. However, I might seek other clothing from other regions within the United States in case they are not available or run out of stock in the many suppliers in New York. I will also choose two pairs of shoes from Allen Edmonds in Missouri and five handkerchiefs from Zooby Industrial in Dallas, Texas. I will also select five pairs of socks from Hanes, which is in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a belt from Crosea Inc. in Colorado Springs.

My Domestic Clothing Supply Chain

In my domestic clothing supply chain, I have spent $5,883, which is relatively high compared to my budget. Although all the types of clothing I chose are of high quality, the prices of the business casual trousers and shirts were extremely high, which forced me to look out for the clothes in stores that sold them at comparatively lower prices. Nevertheless, the clothes retailed under a similar price in all the stores I visited and those I went through on the internet. Some of the items that I experienced difficulties in finding include a belt, a linen shirt, and the two pairs of shoes, which forced me to buy them from other regions in the United States, unlike the majority of the items I bought in New York. Generally, the location of all the manufacturers is strategic, which makes it easier for them to produce more goods and distribute them to the market.

Based on the exercise, I learned that domestic sourcing is relatively easy compared to internal sourcing because in domestic sourcing, one can obtain their products within a short time, unlike in international sourcing, where one has to wait for some time before obtaining the products they have purchased. Additionally, domestic sourcing prevents one from incurring certain costs, such as shipping costs and other charges that might be imposed. I also learned that in order to ease the process of choosing or purchasing a certain commodity, it is important to create a budget because it enables one to make well-informed purchase decisions.
