Requirement specification (general)
Right temperature & pressure
Temperature & pressure need to be controlled during the whole process since they are crucial for the process to happen.
Also the pre-heating system needs to be fully functional for the process to work.
No metals or minerals in the process
Metals & minerals can cause interference in the process.
Some metals like aluminium can be accepted as a catalyst.
Plastic size
The plastics need to be around 0,5 millimeter to 1 millimeter. Bigger particles might clog the reactor and valvules which will cause the process to be stopped.
Requirement specification (especifics) - The storage area will accept the waste plastic delivered to the facility, if the plastic does not meet the
quality requirements a first pretreatment of bulk grinding to achieve metal separation is performed. - The feed needs to be fine ground to powder prior loading into the reactor. - If the reactor has been idle a start procedure is needed followed by system health check up:
pressure control stable, temperature requirements met throughout the reactor, pumping system delivering expected fluxes; when all subsystems of the reactor prove to be functional loading of the feed follows.
- The plastic powder is fed to the mixing unit which mixes vigorously the powder (30%w/w) and water (70%w/w) to produce a relatively homogeneous suspension (slurry) which can be pumped into the system between 280-320 atm.
- The slurry is heat up to 90C and mixed with preheated supercritical water (500C) while entering the main heating unit
- After reaction follows discharge, water recirculation and flammable gas recirculation, product collection.
