Statement on Planned Research for Problem Solution Essay
This problem solution essay focuses on the topic of cyberbullying amongst kids in today’s society.
This topic is interesting because cyberbullying has become increasingly common, especially among
teenagers, due to the advancement of technology in electronic means. Cyberbullying is a form of virtual
harassment and is commonly known as online bullying. One solution to this problem is to ban
cyberbullying. If caught, juveniles would be sentenced to detention, making them rethink their decision
about abusing others online. A second solution would be to get kids off social media (e.g., Instagram,
Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.), it ruins their ability to socialize in-person and damages their ego.
Another solution would be to get adult involvement which teaching the kids to be more confident within
themselves. Some long-term effects caused by cyberbullying consisting of depression, physical and
mental stress, and suicidal thoughts. The first of the three questions I would like to cover “How can
teens be held accountable for cyberbullying?”. The second question is “How do we get teens off of
social media?”. Lastly, the third question is “What options are available to instill self-confidence in
minors that are affected by cyberbullying?”.
What I expect to learn from conducting my research on this topic would be some of the differences
between cyberbullying and in-person bullying. Additionally, I would like to identify any similarities
between the two forms of bullying. This includes pinpointing strategies to mitigate long-term effects on
teens.
