Strategies to Build Rapport with Inmates and Offenders

Maintaining a rapport with offenders is necessary and at certain times could prevent a possible situation like a riot from exploding but instead make it manageable. Some strategies for the officials to maintaining a rapport with the inmates could be by refusal to share personal details about their lives, refraining from holding conversations on a first name basis and not allowing inappropriate comments. Such a type of detachment is however accompanied by mutual respect and fair treatment of the inmates by the officers in charge (Watts, 2017). Correctional officers should exercise caution with regards to their interactions with offenders and uphold strategies to maintaining boundaries without having to compromise their ability to create a rapport with the inmates.

Effect of Group Dynamics on Facilitating Programs

Group dynamics is the system of behaviors and psychological processes happening in one or many social groups. Team dynamics could make significant differences to team performance through unproductive conflicts, general mistrust and demotivation of the members of the team. Moreover, the loosing of some of the skilled staff and loss of the company’s revenue could also affect the group dynamics in a negative way (Levi, 2015). An incompatibility between the senior management personnel of a customer and supplier could result to the deterioration of the service offered by the whole team. On the long run this could cause some members to quit out of demoralization. Ensuring that a group is synchronized from the top to the least member could positively affect the group’s dynamics and result to the excellent performance by the group members.

Techniques for Establishing a Therapeutic Environment.

Any environment is considered therapeutic when it enhances clinical success in the physical body treatment, supports the psychological, social and spiritual needs of the family, staff or the patient and also produces positive effects on a patient’s clinical results and staff effectiveness (Mössler et al., 2017). Some methods for establishing a therapeutic environment include: enabling social support where a family zone can be created in a patient room to prevent the patient from getting lonely since they keep touch with their family members. Also, providing positive distractors like views of nature or pieces of art and elimination of environmental stressors like noise or odor perform the same task (Flaskas, 2018).
