Different Variations: GLBT, LGBTQ, LGBT+
LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and along with heterosexual they describe people's sexual orientation or gender identity.
There are also different variations such as GLBT, LGBTQ, the “Q” Standing for either Questioning or Queer, and LGBT+ which encompasses everyone who does not identify as hetero and also those who consider themselves allies to the community.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) interprets Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity, as a subset of unlawful sex discrimination. The problem with this phrasing is that is does not explicitly encompass sexual orientation discrimination. So many argue this law protects transgender individuals more than gay or lesbians. The added rulling from Price Waterhouse v. Hopkins also prohibits sex stereotyping.

Title VII of the Civil rights act of 1964 also prohibits religious discrimination. This can present an ethical issue when trying to wed 2 individuals of the same sex since a person can claim it goes against the religious beliefs.
The issue of bathrooms has also been a hot topic recently. The Issues is whether transgender individuals should be allowed to use the restrooms of the gender they identify with rather than the gender they were born.
