READ FIRST mechanical Powerpoint presentation (Torsion of circular section )Verification of the torsion equation
Verification of the torsion equation
Background
Torque is a measure of the force that can cause an object to rotate about an axis. Torque causes an object to acquire angular acceleration. Torque is a vector quantity.
You apply torque three times when you simply open a locked door. Turning the key, turning the doorknob, and pushing the door open.
The form of stress that results from torque is Shear stress.
Theory
Objective
To verify the torsion equation
Experimental setup
Method
The specimen was fixed at one end and rotate by 0.4 steps for 6 in total.
The torque was measured at each step and recorded in a table
