Presentation of individual research

75 points

Approx. 10-minutes

This oral presentation can include a visual component (powerpoint), or it may be just audio (i.e., podcast style). You will not be marked down for only including audio. You will only be graded on content, and not fluency with technology.

Note, 1 page of double-spaced text is approx. 2 minutes read aloud. So, a 5 page research paper read aloud should equal about 10 minutes. You may choose to read your research paper, or create a different script for this presentation. Remember that this will be shared with the class via an open access dropbox.

The oral presentation should be directly related to your individual research project overall, including your paper and playlist. You may include music clips in your presentation, but a majority of your presentation should be your voice.

Audio files can be submitted as: Mp3s, .wav, or .AIFF.

Videos should be submitted as .mov, .M4v, or .Mp4.

For video presentation, I would recommend one of these options:

Quicktime – screen capture with Quicktime will record your screen (ppt), and audio.

Zoom: You can record a meeting with yourself, then save, and export it. Here’s some guidance: https://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-record-zoom-meeting

Camtasia: this should be free to download from MSU techstore website. https://techstore.msu.edu/software?combine=&shs_term_node_tid_depth=242&field_ software_categories_tid=All&sort_bef_combine=title_1+ASC

For audio, podcast, I recommend recording with a laptop for ease.

For mac users, I recommend using Garageband to record, edit, and export the audio.

For PC users, I recommend Audacity to record, edit, and export the audio. It is free and open source: https://www.audacityteam.org

You may record audio with your cell phone and submit. There are numerous apps that will record audio, edit, save. I use one called VoiceRecorder.
