Ballard and his colleagues argue that information governance is very important in
organizations and companies and hence, it is equally important for people to understand the
principles of information governance. This book outlines the different practices of big data
landscape (Ballard et Al., 2018). The book is relevant to this study as it describes the information
governance principles.

NHS. International journal of Medical informatics, 73(3), 281-284.
Donaldson and Walker outline the different issues that influence information governance
practice and policy. According to the authors, it is important for any company to ensure that they
always address the issue related to data protection, data quality and records management
(Donaldson & Walker, 2004). Information governance is very essential as it ensures that
confidentiality and security are reinforced in the company. The journal is related to the topic of
study because it explains the importance of companies ensuring that there is information
governance. Additionally, it gives the significance of information governance in the healthcare
industry. The journal also determines a very responsible approach to how information
governance is collected, utilized and shared by different organizations.

The author of this journal gives the history and making of information governance.
According to Epstein, people used to rely on conception of legitimacy and authority. This journal
describes how the non states and state actors were forced to work with institutions when making
information to release to the public (Epstein, 2013). This hence means that there was no
transparency and openness of information to the public. Thus, people used to get information that
was not accurate. Information governance has helped a lot in creating trust, transparency and
openness amongst the public and the citizens. This journal is relevant as it outlines the
importance of information governance and how it is used to create transparency in the
government.
Hagmann, J. (2013). Information governance–beyond the buzz. Records Management
Journal.
According to Hagmann, information governance is important not only to the companies
and organizations abut also to the government. He claims that information governance helps in
ensuring that the information is protected and it is shared to only relevant people. On the same
note, it helps in promoting openness and transparency among organizations, shareholders and
their employees (Hagman, 2013).

Kooper, Maes & Lindgreen outline the reasons why information governance is an
approach that is used in governing the information around and outside the organization or the
company. In the journal, the authors give a definition of information governance. The authors go
ahead in giving the principles of information governance and the aspects of both governance and
information. According to the journal, there are four hypotheses that are proposed in order to
explain the use of information governance. This journal is relevant to the study as it gives a clear
explanation of the principles of information governance (Kopper et Al, 2011).

This journal is relevant because it outlines the security issues that can be avoided using
the information governance. The author of the journal argues that recently, information
governance has helped in ensuring that information is protected and that they are not used for
unintended purposes (Lomas, 2010). The journal outlines other importance of information
governance.

Shepherd, Stevenson & Flinn argues that information governance is very important
because it boosts the understanding of political process. It achieves this by making the decision
of the government to be trusted by the public, it helps in increasing transparency, accountability
of public authorities and openness. The authors claim that through information governance, the
public (citizens) are able to access the public records and they also have freedom of getting
information from the public (government). They claim that when citizens are able to get
information concerning the decisions made by the government, they are likely to trust the
government. This journal is relevant because it describes the importance of information
governance to the political sector.

Silic and Black explain the factors that affect information governance in mobile devices.
According to them, information governance is importance and on the same note, people should
be aware of the factors that affect information governance (Silic & Black, 2013). This journal is
important as it expands my understanding on information governance.

Smallwood uses his journal in expanding the understanding of information governance.
According to him, information governance refers to the overall strategies of different information
in any organization. He argues that information governance helps in establishing logical and
consistent framework for information in organization (Smallwood, 2019). The journal is relevant
because it outlines the concepts, strategies and practices of information governance in
companies.

The authors of this journal have described the importance of information governance in
organizations and companies. According to them, there have been a lot of issues brought about
by misuse of data. They claim that it is very difficult to manage extreme amount of data
especially when information is used as a resource. This is where the significance of information
governance comes in. The authors claim that information governance helps an organization when
it comes to data management. Organizations that use information governance do not usually get
into the troubles that are concerned with data issues.
