RAM Stakeholder Roles

RAM describes active participation of different roles in the project processes

Traditional variations is PARIS (Meredith, Mantel Jr, & Shafer, 2017)

Establish a relationship between the roles and the items of a project(Brewer & Dittman, 2018)

RAM is a matrix-oriented chart that is responsible for providing team members and the entire work processes. RAM describes active participation of different roles in the project processes, which are focused on finishing the project deliverables within time. There are different variations of RAM matrix. One of the traditional variations is PARIS. The early version of RAM matrix is identified as participant (P), Accountable (A), Review Required (R) Input required (I) and Sign Off required (S). In order to establish a relationship between the roles and the items of a project a RAM matrix has been developed, that shows the effective relationship between the stakeholders and project tasks.

RAM Stakeholder Roles Cont

Project goal was to deliver smarter and safer homes to the customers

Project manager, IT/localization engineer, maintenance technician, device manufacturers and end users.

Resource planning, designing, testing and deploying

Stakeholders are a group of essential members associated with projects having keen interest in the project. In the current case, the project goal was to deliver smarter and safer homes to the customers. Therefore, stakeholders of the IT project management are identified as project manager, IT/localization engineer, maintenance technician, device manufacturers and end users. In addition to this, tasks oriented with the home automation project were resource planning, designing, testing and deploying. Therefore, utilizing the RAM matrix, link between roles and responsibilities of stakeholders and the project tasks are depicted clearly. It has been noted that, project manager is accountable and responsible for the majority of the project tasks

RACI Chart

RACI chart is represented as matrix

Responsible (R), accountable (A), Consulted (C) and Informed (I)

Shows the relationship between the tasks of the project and the respective roles

Source: http://itsmtransition.com/2014/07/basic-raci-chart/

RACI chart is represented as matrix that is responsible for all the activities related to decision-making process. Decision-making authorities are responsible for undertaking certain activities that are set against the roles and responsibilities of the teams or stakeholders. It has been noted that, based on the activities, different roles and responsibilities can be assigned by the decision making authorities. RACI is the acronym of respective roles such as Responsible (R), accountable (A), Consulted (C) and Informed (I). In other words, the RACI chart is beneficial in terms of clearly identifying the designated roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders within a project. In this case, the RACI matrix shows the relationship between the tasks of the project and the respective roles of the teams.

RACI Chart Cont.

Project manager and IT engineer form team A

Team B is formed by IT engineer and technician.

Team C is formed by device manufacturer and technician

team D is formed by device manufacturers and end users

Team E is selected by technician and end users

In the case of a home automation project named ‘Homelife’, the stakeholders are assigned roles related to responsibilities and roles within an IT project. In this case, the teams are formed by grouping certain stakeholders. Project manager and IT engineer form team A. Team B is formed by IT engineer and technician, team C is formed by device manufacturer and technician. On the other hand, team D is formed by device manufacturers and end users and team E is selected by technician and end users. Based on the roles, which stakeholders are playing, the responsibilities are assigned by the decision-making authorities of the IT project. It has been noted that, the majority of the responsibilities are assigned to team A and team B

Resource Levelling

Resource leveling is an essential part of PMBOK Guide of project management

Technique, where initiation date and finishing date are modified.

The resource leveling techniques are applied based on the identified resources

Resource leveling is an essential part of PMBOK Guide of project management. It has been noted that, a technique, where initiation date and finishing date are modified is termed as resource leveling. . The adjustments are made depending on the resource related constraints, having a common aim of balancing resource demands within availability of supply. Hence, the key aim of the resource leveling technique is mitigating the issues that have been raised due to over allocation . In order to use the maximum potential of the resources, project managers are required to utilize the resource leveling technique effectively. In this case, the resource leveling techniques are applied based on the identified resources, project tasks and the scheduled period.

Project was completed within 11.42 weeks

Project manager has employed 5 workers

Tasks and the resources are managed based on the weeks (Kasemsap, 2018).

Resource Levelling Cont.

In this IT project, the tasks and stakeholders have been identified. It has been noted that, human and technical resources are the key resources associated with the project. In order to complete the project, the respective project manager has employed 5 workers. In addition to this, the project was completed within 11.42 weeks. Therefore, the resource leveling has been developed based on the identified resources and the weeks used to complete the project. In addition to this, there were four tasks required to complete the project. Hence, the tasks and the resources are managed based on the weeks used and is presented in graphical form. It has been noted that, designing and testing phases took longer time to complete than other tasks

Risk Management

Identification of risks: The main risk of that company is improving the technologies for providing services, which are more efficient to its customers. Apart from that, the Cox communication will also be vulnerable to its existing competitors.

Analyzing risk: This risk can reduce the market demand of Cox Communication, which will decrease the sustainability level.

Risk Management Contd..

Evaluate the types of risks: This risk was considered as highly affect able to the company's future performance and market position.

Ways to resolve: In order to resolve those risks, Cox communication will need to improve their business policies and strategies. Besides that, a proper analysis is required for implementing the innovative technology.

Monitor and review: A proper observation is required to be provided on every activity according to the plan of new business analysis.

Current Values

Values are normally referred to as earned value of project management

Planned value, actual cost and earned value

The actual cost was $25, 00000

Current values in project management are significant parts. The values are normally referred to as earned value of project management. In this case, the current values are related to IT project management. Therefore, earned values are based on ‘Homelife’ services offered by the Cox Communications. Earned value management elements are the planned value, actual cost and earned value. In addition to this, Budget at completion, actual cost, cost variance and schedule variance are important. Moreover, schedule performance index, cost performance index, estimate to complete, estimate at completion and variance at completion are equally significant values in project management approach. In this case, the actual cost was $25, 00000. In addition to this, the duration of the project was 11.42 weeks.

17

Current Values Cont

Planned value was (9/11.42*28550) or $22550

Earned value was (completed percentage*28550) or $1855750

Cost variance was (1855750-2500000) or $644250

Every week, the target was 500 units. The charge per week was $5. Therefore, Budget cost in each week was (500*$5) or $2500 per week. Duration of the project was 11.42 weeks. Therefore, budget at completion was (2500*11.42) or $28550.

In this case, the elapsed duration was 9 weeks.

Therefore, planned value was (9/11.42*28550) or $22550

The completed percentage was 65%

Respective earned value was (completed percentage*28550) or $1855750

Actual cost was $2500000.

Cost variance was (1855750-2500000) or $644250

Schedule variance was (1855750-22550) or $1833200

Cost performance index was (1855750/2500000) or 0.74

Schedule performance index was (1855750/22550) or 82.29

Estimated cost in completion was (28550/.74) or $38581.08

Estimated cost to be completed was (38581.08- 2500000) or $2461419

Variance at completion was (28550-38581.08) or $10031.08
