Practicum Project

Part 1 of the project: You will first identify an organization, an important IT system or application used within the organization, and potential security risks and threats to the system. 

At a minimum, your project report shall include the following elements:

1. Description of the Organization

2. Business and Systems Overview of Selected IT System (purpose and benefits of system)

3. Detailed System Description (including flow charts, diagrams and input and output descriptions)

4. Summary of Potential Threats and Security Risks to the System

5. Implications for the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the system or application.

Part II of the project: Building upon the work in Part 1, you or your team will now investigate technologies, policies or practices that will help mitigate the security threats and risks that were identified in part I project.

At a minimum, your project report shall include the following elements:

1. Summary of available technologies that address the potential security threats and risks identified

2. Summary of suggested policies or practices that can be implemented to mitigate the security threats or risks identified

3. Implications for the reliability, accuracy and integrity of information processed within the system

4. Recommendations on an approach to security the organization should adopt using some or all of the technologies, policies or practices discussed.

A) Word document of your project. Submit only ONE FILE for part 1 and 2.

(12-15 pages). Please use APA style.

B) PowerPoint presentation of your project (5-7 pages).
