In the cases identified, learners fall between age 3 to 5 years. This is a very crucial age where children learn and develop, here kids are cautious and learn from their environment and questions. Parents or caretakers have a significant role to play in the development of their children at this age. However, teachers also have a difficult and challenging task to deal with the children and ensure that they develop effectively to attain educational goals. Given the nature of children at this stage, it is important to ensure that the activities that they involve in are fun and interesting so as to enjoy learning. The following essay is divided in two parts, the first part involves a description of different activities; art, lesson and resources which can be used to attain educational goals in different cases. The second part involves an integration of art lesson and the social studies as well as a reflection to determine the level of success attained.
Scenario 1: Carlos’ Class (Color Mixing Art Activity)
In this case, the children are of different ages ranging from 3 to 5 years. Some require special needs while others cannot sit or stare a paper for a longer time. Therefore, mixing colors is an activity that can suit all the ages effectively as well as factor in the children with special needs and those not willing to sit in class. Mixing colors is an activity that is perfect for a hot day. Here the children will be required to freeze some cubes of paint (basically, 2 to 3 primary colors), then the paint can be taken outside to enable melting as the children paint. This will effectively take care of those children who cannot sit for long. As the painting runs together, it is important to observe and see what colors every child makes. During this time, the teacher should be able to guide the process especially younger preschoolers. Painting is a crucial way through which a teacher can strengthen the learner’s hand-eye coordination, hence improving the learners fine motor skills (Besserer et al., 2016). Additionally, color mixing can help shape the learner’s artistic capacity and improve coordination.
The main reason why this art activity was selected is because it encompasses all the different characters of children described in the case. For instance, there are children who cannot sit down for a longer period; color mixing and painting can be done in whatever way one desires, whether standing or sitting, therefore, these children are well taken care of. Additionally, there are other children who have special need, with the guidance of the teacher, these children too can improve their fine motor skills. Lastly, there is a group of children who are younger and should be given more attention to enable them effectively carry out the activity. Therefore, it is upon the teacher to find the best way through which to ensure that every child is effectively involved in the activity and they successfully complete the lesson.

Scenario 2: Xiao Jin’s Class (Mirror Activity)
Given the nature of diversity in this case, it is important to illustrate the importance of diversity to the learners at a tender age. Informing the learners about their diversity at a younger age reduces racism and ethical stereotypes in the future and a healthy generation is created. Therefore, Mirror activity should be practiced to illustrate the importance of diversity. In the Mirror activity, every learner is offered a mirror, mirror on the wall worksheet and then they are requested to fill the form out. After everyone has filled their sheet in the ballroom, they are requested to share their answers (Wang et al., 2019). It is important to note that diversity comprises but is not restricted to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, language, among others. Before completion of the activity, it is important to let the learners have a reflection to understand what entails diversity and the importance of embracing every aspect of diversity (Wang et al., 2019).
The mirror activity suits this case due to the diversity of the learners involved in the scenario. The learners will be able to respect every single person regardless of their race. The scope of the questions asked in the mirror activity enables an in-depth understanding of every person and embracing who they are. Therefore, the activity offers a good avenue through which a diverse community can harmoniously live together.
“1. When I look in the mirror each morning, I see…
2. Who are my people? What do they see in the mirror?
3. If I had to describe myself in four words, I would say that I am a: (4 descriptors)
4. One experience that I have had that helped me to form this description of myself was:
5. One thing about being a that makes me feel good or proud is”

Scenario 3: Emily’s Class
Considering that the class is composed majorly with children living below the subsistence level, it is very important to stress on the importance of healthy foods. In this lesson, the children will be taught what constitutes a healthy diet and what snacks they should be eating to enhance healthy growth (Schmitt et al., 2018). It is very important to ensure that the diversity within the group is considered during the lesson. In the lesson, the teacher will ask the learners to mention some of the snacks they consider healthy. Here the teacher may go a notch higher and ask the learners to draw their favorite snacks. Additionally, the learners may be asked if they know the components or the ingredients used in preparing these snacks. It is important to guide all the learners to ensure that none is left behind during this lesson. The teacher’s decision making during such lessons forms a critical basis through which the learners can realize the goals and objectives of the lesson. Therefore, it is necessary that apt decision is made for effective learning.
The health lesson is selected based on the nature of the class. Composed of children from different economic class mostly low class. It is important to ensure that the learners understand that not every snack should be eaten. They should only settle or think of preparing healthy snack, in this regard, the teacher should arm themselves with the relevant knowledge that enables them to impart knowledge that is required in this health lesson. Because some of the children live far from their parents, they may not be able to learn some of the health benefits from their caretakers such as grandparents. Therefore, they should get this guidance from their teachers to ensure that maximum learning goal is achieved.
