Residency 4 Purpose

The purpose of Residency 4 is to provide support and feedback for successful completion of the proposal and final dissertation.

Choices: F2F or virtual residency; or Dissertation Intensive Retreat

Residency 4 Track Options:

Residency 4 General 

Residency 4 Proposal Writing 

Residency 4 Methods & Data Collection: Qualitative 

Residency 4 Methods & Data Collection: Quantitative 

Residency 4 Publishing & Presenting

During Residency 4 students will:

Present a PowerPoint of their proposed dissertation research

Receive developmental feedback from faculty and peers

Prepare a PowerPoint presentation using the required template provided in the Residency 4 classroom (Pre-Work)

Conduct a 5-minute presentation during the Residency

Dissertation Intensive Retreat

Option to attend DI or PhD Residency 4

Dissertation Intensive helps doctoral candidates to make progress in writing their Capstone study proposals

This supportive experience provides an opportunity for attendees to work directly with:

Experienced faculty members who have expertise in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research design

Form & Style Editors who can help participants strengthen skills required to write the Capstone

Dissertation Intensive Retreat

During the retreat, participants:

Meet with a faculty member for research feedback.

Meet with a Form & Style Editor for writing feedback.

Network with colleagues at the same stage of the writing process and develop ongoing writing support groups.

For doctoral students who are about to start working on their preproposal document (e.g., premise, prospectus).

Proposal Revision Workshop

To help students revise and edit their overall proposal, introduction, literature review, and methods section.

Research Design Alignment Appointments

Office of Research and Doctoral Services

If you are working on your premise, prospectus, or proposal (and your proposal has not been approved) 

Students can schedule individual 30-minute research design alignment appointments with a Office of Research and Doctoral Services methodologist. 

The Research Design Alignment Table must be completed and included when scheduling your appointment.
