Research Article Assignment

Assignment Goal: Create a cohesive and objective overview of a research article found in

the APA PsycINFO database located in the UHV Online Library

Each student will be required to submit an overview of one research article they have chosen

from the APA PsycINFO database. It can be an article on a topic of interest, but the article

chosen must be a full text with references available. It must also be peer-reviewed and published

in the English language between the years 2013-2023. The following are the concepts that should

be discussed and explained in the overview as they are relevant to the article selected:

Introduce the topic of the research (this means you must read your article entirely before

creating the overview), identify and explain the type of research method that was utilized

and its design (example: Experimental method – Random Group Design *hint: you can

select a specific methodology in the advanced search option in EBSCOhost), describe the

data analyses and interpretations process within the article (example: central tendency,

correlation, etc.), and discuss the ethical, applicable, and/or styles of communication

utilized for the chosen research article publication.

Requirements:

- Must use APA PsycINFO

- Pay attention to publication dates.

Only use articles from 2013-2023

- Do not use narrative writing.

“Narrative” writing is any writing that tells a story. This is a RESEARCH

assignment, which means you should not make any opinionated statements or

personal reflections. You will need to strictly report facts and support them with the

evidence found in the article. Also, avoid “I” statements and “I am going to tell you”

type statements. Simply state your research information. There should be no personal

bias in this assignment. Remain objective.

o You will use APA formatting: Remember to cite your article on the reference

page. You will also need to use appropriate parenthetical citations when directly

quoting the article within your overview. But, remember this is a summary of the

research published. Try to objectively explain the requested information in your

own words.

The tutoring center and UHV/VC library are great (and free) resources provided

to all students if you should find you need assistance.

Please SUBMIT the paper and article in Canvas – When you submit it will go through

an automatic process. This means that it will be thoroughly checked for plagiarism.
