PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project provides a solution for homelessness which is one of the major issues in Australia. Our project team has come up with a solution to reduce this problem. Our idea is to provide a shelter for homeless people using wood plastic composite WPT as a building material. We have designed a sample house with wood plastic composite WPT. Hence, it will be easy for the government to provide shelters for maximum homeless people in Melbourne. |

DISCOVER
From the last couple of years, we are observing so many homeless people lying on roadsides, and day by day their population is increasing. This population consists of all age groups. Seeing people in that situation is very tough for us. Hence, we decided to use our technical knowledge with innovative ideas to help them. Simply providing food, clothes, money are the temporary solution for the eradication of homelessness. Therefore, we decided to design a shelter with cost-effective material, which will not be a burden to the government. We have used the major construction material as wood plastic composite for wall panel and floor.
DESIGN
The project was designed in 3d prototype using wood plastic composite WPT. This material is made up of sawdust and plastic fibres also, this is environment-friendly, durable and low in cost, it reduces fire hazard inside and outside the surroundings and this can also avoid landfill costs. Another major reason for designing this project is that the government and external organization can take the initiative to implement the idea as it is cost effective and easy to cast. Our idea is to provide permanent shelter to the homelessness. We are expecting feedbacks regarding our design to make changes.

DELIVERY STATUS.
We have designed our project in 3d and craft model and we are ready to deliver the project. Now, we need to contact the Department of Social Services and provide them this idea so that they can use it in the next construction.
IMPACT or INNOVATION
If this cost-effective shelter design is approved and optimized, the living standard and health of all homeless people will be improved. This will directly impact the overall health index of the country. Moreover, the WPT material is obtaining from the waste material and hence, highly contribute in reducing the pollution. Finally, if the project is successful, this design can be modified and used for various types of infrastructure development.
FUTURE PLANS
We want to deliver this project as this helps a lot to reduce the issue. So, we have a plan to Discuss and take our project to the next level with any NGO Organisations like Salvos, etc., and housing departments. who are working for homeless people.
At present, we have taken Designing houses using wood
plastic composite WPT. If any other project teams want to pick up this, they can even think that is there any other materials rather than WPT which can be even cheap and implementing the idea of discussing with any companies. Due to some issues, the project team has not met any of the homeless people directly. So, we can’t understand the problems what they are facing at present apart from a shelter, food, and clothing, etc.,
The main issue that we noticed is material and economy. We have done research on the materials like bamboo, shipping containers but For Australian Climate, Using Bamboo is a bit difficult as it is very costly, and it does not rely on this weather. For Usage of containers, we need to take the permission of higher authorities which is difficult, and it is time taking.
EXTERNAL CONTACTS
In this project, we are going to contact external organisations like:
1. Department of Social Services, Australian Government
2. Department of Housing and Public works.
