THE EVOLUTION OF TECHNOLOGY IN TRAINING
American society for training and development (ASTD) 2004.
Cost of technology based training.
Benefits of technology-based training.
Factors influencing technology-based training.
Utilizing Technology
According to the study work conducted by Sugrue and Rivera (2005) more than 28.1 percent of the training has gone digital. There has increased level of utilization of technology in modern training since 2002. The current percentage has risen above 35 percent. Evolution of technology in training might be as the result competirive advantages within the market demand for human capital.
2
Environmental factors influencing technology-based training
Improved level of technology.
Globalization.
Economic pressure.
Work-life.
These factors have combined to create a conducive environment that has led to the development and the growth of the technology-based training. With improved efficiency in communication tools like computers led to increased levels of innovation and creativity which then stimulated slowly the rise of this system of training. The issue of economic pressure also agitated to this kind of training mainly to allow firms to hire competitive and productive human labor.

Methods of Training
Demonstrations
On the job training (OTJ).
Audio-visual training.
In many years, various types of training have been revolutionized to meet the needs and the specification of various employing companies. According to study conducted by Blanchard and Thacker,( 2009)reveals that the most traditional training system is demonstration which encompasses lectures . OTJ on the other hand involved mostly traditional training methods like apprenticeship. The presence of computer systems has raptured audio visual communication which spread widely.

History of Training
Job Training dates back to early times
Learning on the Job
Job apprentice
Computer Training
Virtual Training
Boardroom Training
Phone Training
Training has been historical and more so various types of training has emerged as time has been advancing. According to the study made by Desimone, Werner, and Harris,( 2002) In 1800’s vocational schools emerged but this was later transformed as manufacturing industries developed which required specific skills. For this reasons their was transformation of apprenticeship to job instruction training (JIT). since first world war. Another form of training called workplace training emerged but in twentieth century type of training was formalized and became professional. The major force behind these kinds of training is the level of technology we are living into.
5
Technological Advancements
Supporting successful training efforts
The internet has succelfull linked many training communion
Computers, Laptops and tablets have been a tool to help ease the training efforts
Social platforms have given way to training aids. Such as you tube and how to videos.
You tubeBetween businesses to train as one.
Social media.
Smartphone.
Computer.

According to the work done by Blanchard and Thacker( 2009)computer-based training found its way in some training industries and government bodies before the second world war II.
Since that period this system has been advancing and this encouraged Skinner to introduce teaching machine back in 1950s (Magliaro,Lockee & Burton, 2005).
The systems were programmed with certain specific instructions which in the future may replace the physical appearance of tutors.
Computer Generated training
Smartphones
Smartphones envisaged themselves in late 1990s and early 2000s.
Smartphones are doing marvelous in the corporate world.
Employed individuals are accessing training through their smartphones by opening training links and videos.
allow most of the employees to participate in certain online training as they continue doing their work. For instance reviewing emails and loading educative pictures and upload vital organization data (Cheng, 2011).
8
Social Media
Since 2000, social media has grown rapidly with target of pre-occupying most employe individuals. According to the study done by Edosomwan et al., (2011) the level of information sharing on social media like twitter and Facebook is very high.
Facebook has developed and has been acting as educative platform by enabling individuals to liaise to form groups some of which are directly used for educative purposes.
Similar social platform to Facebook has been LinkedIn which has been allowing professionals to interact and share educative materials.
On the other hand Twitter has been contributing business training an idea that has enabled business individuals to operate competitively.
How technology contributes to producing training needs analysis
Training needs analysis (TNA
TNA is mostly done at various levels of an organization.
As the level of technology improves, the training development also do increase respectively.
Successfully attain Training
Create Focus Groups to contribute to training needs
Training needs analysis (TNA) is a process in which the employers more specifically Companies do identify their employees needs with prima idea of developing them(Mantyla, 2001). To successfully attain the training, a schedule is planned in advance for every session to ensure that appropriate skills are disseminated at appropriate time.

Technology in Training.
Training can be done online
A boardroom setting
as well as on training retreats.
With Virtual Jobs becoming more main stream
Training is held with employees at their home computers taking instruction from a manger.
This setting can have virtual learning, videos, chat, speaking as well as feed back for training.
The use of the Computer
The connivance of interoffice software
Open Source Software
Proprietary Software
Blogs, quizzes, forums and wikis as well as links to files and webpages
Open source software can be managed completely by an end-user organisation or they can use a third party to provide training, hosting and customization. Many organizations begin their experience of open source software with help from a third party and use the training they gain to upskill their own staff.

Skill Identification
Through provision of current requirement of an organization.
Employees are assessed through their work capabilities and a judgment is made as to whether they are conversant or not.
Unskilled personnel's are identified for not being compatible to given production methods.
Skillful personnel's are identified and utilized to perform some specific task.
Assessing the existing skills of employees
The level of technology enables individual groups or organizations to examine the effectiveness of their employees towards the trending working styles.
Redundant skills are, therefore, eliminated but compatible skills to the current technology are encouraged.
Some technical applications are used to judge the well-being of the employees.
Application of tools for instance computer systems remains the key operating factor.
High level technology regarding production process are assessed by measuring individual capabilities and comfort.
Determine the training gap
Technology do provide room for employee monitoring, evaluation and reinstatement.
Difficultness, unacceptance, slow production or pace and non-conversant do act as technological sieves for the identifying any employee limitations.
In effective application and use or conformation to the technology depicts sort of imbalances.
Employees do test their technical skills to those of close competitors to see whether there is a mismatch or not.
This Could Be Our Future
Henn-na hotel
The world’s first hotel staffed by robots, which opened last month near Nagasaki, Japan
The hotel’s owner, Hideo Sawada, says he wants to make this “the most efficient hotel in the world” by reducing manpower and having 90% of staff be robotic
The Hotel is run mostly on robots, there are robots to carry items to your room, to put your clothes in draw, call you a taxi, tell you the time to eat at the hotel.
There is a mold being created here and this could lead into other areas of employee relations and training.
Not only does this hotel have robots doing some human jobs, but when you think about employees behind the hotel there are many aspect that come into play.
they need to be training in this type of technogy so that when a problem does aris they can take care of it in a timely mannor.
