BMIS 501

BMAL 501 POWERPOINT DEES CONCEPTS INSTRUCTIONS ASSIGNMENT

OVERVIEW

Students will choose three important concepts for this assignment. PowerPoint: Dees Concepts topics will be chosen from chapters 7-8 from the Satterlee text and/or chapters 1-4 from the Dees text.

Each student will create a PowerPoint presentation in response to the instructions below. Each Presentation must include approximately 10-15 slides and demonstrate course-related knowledge. Please see the grading rubric for assignment requirements, which includes additional guidance.

The title page and slide citations and references will be produced in current APA format. The content will be supported by peer-reviewed references and the text, and be free of spelling errors and grammar mistakes. The slides will be accompanied with speaker notes that include full sentences that describe the contents of each slide. The following will be necessary:

· Perform academic research to support your strategies by finding and utilizing 3 peer-reviewed sources in addition to assigned course readings in the text and assigned library and website readings. Research should be performed in the Liberty University Online Library to ensure that peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles are chosen.

· Personal experiences are also encouraged

· Write in third person.

· Use current APA format for citations and references.

· Write at graduate-level quality in your speaker notes.

· The title page and reference list are included in the 10-15 slide requirement.

INSTRUCTIONS

Following are the instructions for completing your PowerPoint presentation assignments (topics are chosen from within the modules/weeks):

PowerPoint Presentation

Students will complete 10-15 slides discussing the following:

· Title Page (formatted the same as an MS Word title page without the running head)

· Introduction

· A short overview of the three concepts

· Three Concepts (separate headings for each concept)

· The 3 most important concepts you have learned from the textbook readings, presentations, and website and article readings.

· In the discussion, include why these are the most important for an organization to consider.

· Biblical Integration

· Integrate a minimum of one biblical principle that relates to one or more of your concepts. Listing a Bible verse alone is unacceptable. Provide a verse and elaborate how it relates to your topic.

· Conclusion

· A short summation of the three concepts

· References – Four total (formatted the same as an MS Word reference list)

· Three peer-reviewed references from the Liberty University Online Library. Two of these references must have been published in the previous five years.

· 1 reference from the text.

For those who are new to PowerPoint, there are several links on the Internet that provide opinions on what is included in an effective PowerPoint presentation. Below is one of these from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL):

https://www.ncsl.org/legislators-staff/legislative-staff/legislative-staff-coordinating-committee/tips-for-making-effective-powerpoint-presentations.aspx

Some commonly known tips from NCSL for effective slide presentations:

· Use a simple slide master template from MS PowerPoint

· Limit the number of words per slide bullet point (use the speaker notes to write full sentences to define your bullet points)

· Avoid all caps except for the titles

· If images are used, ensure they are quality images

· Limit the number of slides to 10-15 slides

· No font size smaller than 24 point

· Use different colors, sizes, and styles (e.g., bold) for emphasis

· For bullet points, no more than 6 words per line and no more than 6 lines per slide (use the speaker notes to write full sentences to define your bullet points)

· Limit the information to essentials

· Use quality clipart sparingly if necessary (NCSL, n.d.)

Your PowerPoint presentation must be posted by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of the assigned module.

Each course module begins on Monday morning at 12:00 a.m. (ET) and ends on Sunday night at 11:59 p.m. (ET). The final module ends at 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday.
