Introduction

Income inequality and poverty are a common topic that is featured in books and in

American journals. The theme of poverty and equipment is important as the richest people make

up only 1% while the entire 99% lie in middle class and poor social economic levels in people.

Many people lack education, safe working conditions, health services, clean water and sanitation

and housing. Poverty causes disparities in political level for an individual or even vindicate a

legal course in judicial system. Looking at poverty and economic equality at global levels a great

number of people more than 3 billion live under a low income of less than $2 a day while more

than 1.5 billion people live in less than $1 dollar in a day. Poverty and income inequality serve as

limitation to economic development in the whole world and the discussion essay focuses on the

elements that constitutes to poverty and income inequality in United States and the entire world

at large.

The poverty line in different countries of low income is different compared to America

because while that for America is set at $16.37 per an individual in a day in 2011 while that of

different regions was $2 in a single day for one person. The poverty line for many people in the

world is so much poor when compared to Americans. Countries like China and India have more

than billion people below the poverty line and in other populous countries like Nigeria and Egypt

they have an average of $2 in a single day. A generalized equivalence show that half of the

In explaining poverty line and income inequality it is important to consider critical

elements such that should there be a national poverty line for big nations like United States as the

economic conditions for different states is different than that of different states. For instance,

The federal register shown the median income for a family say of four has $57,132 in

Mississippi and $102, 552 in New Jersey in 2013 and the prices for different amenities keep on

changing from one state to the other, hence, averaging income inequality and poverty rates leads

to a more distributed poverty rate than the normal case in many areas.

The elements of the book contradicts what the other elements of reserch highlight about

poverty and income inequality and helps point out impornta elements that needs be incorporates

in normal formulation of defining poverty and inequality.

The source helps reach realistic reasnoning of poverty and inequality.

A close analysis of poverty rates in 2011 working out different elements of poverty in

people indicated that 16.3% of females in American lied below the poverty line while 13.6% of

men lied below the poverty line. A consideration between people of color and white people is

that 13.0% of white people lied below the poverty line while 27.6% of people of color lied below

the poverty line. The Hispanic people had a 25.3% of those that lied below the poverty line.

Calculating people who lied below the poverty line basing on age indicate the largest number of

people 20.6% as those of age bracket 18-24 while the least number of those that had an age

bracket low than that of others was at age 65 and above.

The book differs with the rest in how the author paints income inequality based on

different sub groups and how such element focus on the real issue of inequality in people of

America.

The knowledge got here focuses on the different ways one can approach poverty and

Income inequality and poverty is created by labor markets. The statement seems to be

controversial but it is true. A good explanation of the instance can be seen by looking at the

reports from U.S. Census Bureau in 2012 which indicated that, the median income for American

families was $62,241. The median value explained is the level where equating the incomes of

people it is halved to get what those above the line get and those below the lone get and had $62,

241. The element can be further explained through how the census body indicated that 9 million

families in America lived below the poverty line.

The authors focus on a different element of calculating the medean value of families

which indicate that such familes can look at income at different angle facing the whole nation

and make consideration on how the effects traiangulate to all working population.

The article helps push towards understanding the whole concern with income inequality

on working population.

Income inequality can be explained best using income for an imaginary family. An

explanation to understand how income inequality affects families can be seen by taking an

imaginary family of a single mother who has two children and earns an annual income of $17,

916. The basic needs that are must do for the family in terms of rent, transportation, health care

and clothing can leave the family having been left with $6,000 which is to be spent on food for

an entire year which has 365 days. The budget for food that can be distributed in a single day can

be $17 which is equivalent to one appetizer in a restaurant. The $17 is expected to last the family

of three for a whole day. The distribution of labor market happens to be very poor.

The calculations make the wntire working to be effective as the author points it, people

can be working and still be poor and their income to be below the avarage standard.

The work gives a clean insight on true definition of poverty.
