Ethics is the study of moral principles and values to that constitutes social behavior. Business ethics is moral values or principles that are applied to business dealings. Ethics in professional settings are becoming more prevalent with importance of behaving and acting ethically in organizations. Ethics are becoming more important to instill ethical mindsets that it is becoming a requirement to take an ethics course in order to attain a certain degree or keep your license to continue your business practice. The implications and outcomes from business not acting ethically has brought about the importance of trying to ingrain professionals with guidelines of ethical business practices. Enron and Worldcom scandals helped to propel the need to create requirements to ensure that these scandals would not repeat themselves. The law is a relationship of ethics by trying to avoid significant harm to society. The Sarbanes Oxley Act came about after the Enron and Worldcom scandals to help protect society from more harm that these companies and others like it could cause.
