John Kotter urges that for change to be successful,75 % of a company's management requires to accept the change. Kotter came with eight steps of successful change that if company follows can it successful. Samsung is a South Korea electronic manufactured company if it employs the Kotter steps of change, then it will be successful in its business returns. The best way of making the change in your company is by implementing the Kotter's steps of change. Creating urgency is the first step of change, according to Kotter. It is developing a sense of urgency within the change. The whole members of the company must be willing to support the change. Under urgency, the Samsung company has to identify potential threats and develop a plan for dealing with this threat in future. Examine the opportunities that should be exploited to the fullest. The company should also make honest discussions and provide a convincing reason to get people's talks and thinking about the plan. Finally request support from customers, stakeholders and workmate to get support in terms of marketing and finance (Cohen, 2005).
Step 1 is the crucial step of a successful step in building change before moving to the other steps. Step 2 as by Kotter is to form a strong coalition; hence one needs to convince other companies to borrow your idea and inform them that change is necessary. And be the champion of change and lead others to the change you need within the organization who will support the idea of change and make the team (coalition) to influence others. The coalition of change formed has to work as a team helping in building the first step of urgency. Within step 2 identify true leaders in the Samsung company, ask for an emotional commitment from these change team coalition, working aiming at building of the team to strengthen the change need. Step 3 Samsung has to create a vision for change that is clear to help in understanding why the company should buy the idea and what they are expecting to do in building the change. In step 3 the company has to determine the values that are key to change, develop a short target that captures what one can remark as the future of the Samsung company and creating a strategy to accomplish the company vision .step four the Samsung company communicate the vision this the step to success as the vision is needed to be communicated frequently to maintain the company name on the competitive market (Cohen, 2005).
In step 4, the following has to be done often talking about the vision change of the company and apply the vision to all aspects of operations and tie everything to the vision. Step 5 involves removing the obstacles that could hinder the successful implementation of the vision of change in the Samsung company the removal of obstacles empowers the people you need to accomplish the vision. The best thing to do on this step is to recognizing and rewarding people for making the change to come through. Step 6 involves creating a short-term win which will motivate you in the change you need. The wins have to be quick to motivate other staff members also reward the individuals who have helped you to achieve the short terms goals and wins. Step 7 involves building on the change as the Samsung company can release various products as a result of the change and keep in mind that every success allows working on what went right and where to improve and set goals to build on the change. The final change step is anchoring the changes in corporate culture and make the change stick and become the core value of the company (Sabri et al., 2006).
