PORT PROJECT 4

The company operates in various countries which rank differently in the Hofstede index. Some of the main countries include Denmark and Austria. In the Index, Denmark has a power distance of 18 while Austria has 11. A U.S manager operating in the two countries needs to take into consideration the cultural as well as legal aspects in that country. This means that the manager will align the strategies of the company according to the cultural and legal framework of the countries. The company does not currently operate in areas which are considered as politically or economically risky. The company has also not purchased any insurance from OPIC.

The company owns some several design patents. These include a patent for our computer screen icon as well as the head office wallpaper patent. These are meant to improve the company appearance. Denmark leads in the corruption perception index, making it the least perceived corrupt country. On the other hand, the country with a low index in which our company operates in Nigeria, which is ranked as the 146th country in the index (Index, 2019). Denmark in 2018 was faced with a series of corruption scandals involving Danske Bank, which was used to launder money. On the other hand, Nigeria has been often hit by a series of major scandals. One of the notable scandals was that involving shell company and a series of politicians including the president. The company would receive money for the payment of oil fields and then channel it back to the politicians. The company might not have high risks in terms of corruption while operating in Denmark. However, the operations in Nigeria may be negatively affected as corruption deprives the economy (Mbaku, 2019).

Our company uses acquisitions as the mode of entry into the international market. This is the right approach, in my opinion, because it is fast and less risky (Lundan, 2010). The company has so far not come up with an exit strategy since the markets are relatively okay. The company also engages in a wide range of corporate social activities, including engaging in communal work and helping the less privileged. The mission of the company is to be the world's leading service provider. This can be seen in its expansionary efforts so far. I would describe our company as applying the stakeholder orientation model because the strategies it implements are after consultations with all stakeholders. The company is as at now a stateless corporation with many branches globally. Currently, the company is using a decentralized organizational structure. Application of the hybrid matrix may be beneficial to the company since it will bring coherence in strategies.
