SUBJECT: Targeted violence and terrorism

INTRODUCTION

The consequential developing dissatisfaction and frustration with public health interference and the epidemic response have increased the level of ongoing people health facilities and officials (Barry-Walsh, James, & Mullen, 2020). Several health administrators have been attacked, vilified, and targeted by locals. Governors of several states affirm that health staff and administrators have been getting disparaged, getting death menaces; they are being demoralized as well as demeaned. Every day in the state newsroom, this is showed that the number of attacks and violence getting moving towards threats. Nearly two-decade after the 9/11 attacks, the threats of terrorism have also rapidly increased and it formed as complex revolving. Foreign terrorist organizations such as al-Qaeda, ISIL plot against the US. During the last two years, the United States experienced the worst terrorist activities in different cities, often due to a lack of political policies and ideological motives (Hoffman, Ware, & Shapiro, 2020).The threats of terrorism and target violence increasingly intersect with one another.

DISCUSSION

It is a fact that the crimes are having been recorded all over the world; however, in the United States, crimes started since colonization. The crime rate in the United States has been reached a peak between the 1970s and early 1990s. Under a recent survey in the United States, the respondents were selected, and they were asked about the facts of terrorism activities and violence (Hemenway & Nelson, 2020). The respondents were asked for a physical assault that they ever experienced as children. Similarly, they were asked for physical assaults as adults by any type of assailant. The results of the survey have discussed that physical assault is widespread among adults; the ratio of physical adults facing victims is 51.9% are women, and 66% are men. Similarly, this is also coming to the knowledge that in a total population of the US, almost 1.9 million people are women, and 3.2 million people are physically assaulted every year. Additionally, under the facts of the newsletter and survey, almost half of the women in the US are raped at an early age. Out of 17.6 percent of all women, a survey has resulted that almost half of the women were completely attempted to be rape at some time in their life (Vaughan, Hart, Hewitt, & Felson , 2020). The ratio is like; 21 % of women were raped at a younger age, 32% of women raped when they were between 12-17 years of age. Thus, more than half of women were victims of rape.

The current situation in several states

The current situation of terrorism and target violence in the United States is far better than in previous years. This has come to the knowledge that in the United States, now a day’s stalking is more prevalent than other criminal and violent activities. 8-10 surveyed results have concluded that 43% of women being stalked in their entire life while 38% of men are stalked. In total, almost 1 million women are victims of the stalk, while 371,000 men are obvious victims. Besides, if we talk about the resident people and sort them out by religion, the American Indians, as well as Alaska Native people, are more violent victims than others (Ehntholt, Cook, Rosenquist, Muennig, & Pabayo, 2020). At the same time, in the under rape category, Hispanic women are more on the victim list than white women. The situation of terrorism in the United States is now under control and examined in a preventive way. The United States homeland security and the advisory team are taking precautionary and protective actions to tackle the situation with every passing day.

Key strategies

One of the key and basic prevention strategies to address terrorism and violent threats is to coordinate with community stakeholders and executives of the government house on urgent intervention. Secondly, the government and institutes now focus on the 4P framework, and each P comprising on a definite objective. Such as,

Prevent: is to stop people and individuals from becoming terrorists.

Protect: to strengthen the people from further attacks.

Pursue: to stop terrorist attacks.

Prepare: to mitigate the impacts of terrorism and counter-terrorism attacks if happened.

Besides that, the government must take precautionary measures such as delivering safeguarding training in the form of workshop awareness under primary and secondary schools.

Implementation

The government of the United States has implemented many policies and strategies. The government has worked for the security of people, respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism and the threats from those who promote it. Similarly, the counter-terrorism companies and institutes work with the sectors where they are at risk of radicalization that must be needed to address. A famous personality ‘Lord Carlile’ who was a member of Lord of the house, has said that ‘prevention strategy provides the full support and extremist ideas to face the challenges and seek the actions to undermine the law.

CONCLUSION

It is a fact that the targeting of public and terrorist activities has greatly increased the threat within society all over the world. During the covid-19 situation, the underlying threat of targeted violence has increased in the United States. The governing and regulatory bodies are using the existing framework and useful strategies to reduce the risk of violent attacks. The current and previous situation of violent attacks and terrorism has also been discussed concerning critical public health.
