Policy Analysis Paper

Strengths Perspective Policy Analysis Paper. Using a policy related to the content that we discussed  this semester , students must write a paper in which they analyze that policy.

1. Discussion of the social need/condition, including (section #1 is worth 30 points total):

A.   An examination of how the problem or need was defined and documented (20 points)

B.    Discussion of how values and self-interest shaped the definition and documentation (10 points)

2.  Policy analysis, including (section #2 is worth 60 points total)

A.   Latent and manifest goals (10 points)

B.    Benefits and services provided (10 points)

C.    Eligibility rules; service delivery systems (10 points)

D.   Financing; attention paid to social justice/equity issues (10 points)

E.    Evaluation and recommendations for policy modifications/changes. Be sure to include the degree to which the policy is strengths-based, and strategies or recommendations to make it more reflective of the strengths approach. (20 points)

Formatting – Formatting is worth a total of 10 points

1. APA format must be used – Refer to the APA Manual or Purdue OWL

2. 4-6 pages in length  NOT  including the title page or references

3. A minimum of 5 PEER-REWVIEWED SOURCES must be used

4. Proper grammar and punctuation – Use Grammarly or the Writing Center on campus

5. No abstract is needed

The policy analysis is due on May 4th by 11:59pm and is worth 100 points.
