1. For this week’s  Main Post , we are creating semantic maps of different objects. Choose an object (such as a flower, the sun, a crown, a lamp, pretty much anything you can think of). Then write down in a list all of the meanings that you associate with that object. Everything you can think of, as many as you can, no matter how out-there or strange they might seem. Finally, explain how you would use the object as a symbol. If you were writing a poem that included your object, what would the poem be about? What would the object symbolize in that poem? What important meanings (from your semantic map) would it bring? (This post may be shorter than the usual 250 words and that’s ok).

2. For your  Peer Response  post, look at everything your peer has written down as an association with their object. Think of at least 5 more. Then, explain an alternative way that the object could be used in a poem, and an alternative meaning it could bring to the poem. (This post may not reach your usual minimum and that’s ok too).

Peer text----

The object that I will be discussing is a flower. A flower is composed of many meanings that varies from love to mourning. In fact, a flower can symbolize love, mourning, happiness, a fresh start and beauty. With this object, I will use it as a symbol to represent my life or those surrounded by me that have experienced life changes. The object would symbolize growth, which is a key component that is needed for a fresh start in any person. This poem would bring important meanings such as love, a sad period of time and happiness all in one, to demonstrate the struggles and challenges that happens as a result of fresh starts.
