B. Written Paper

How will you open your paper?

I will open the paper by explaining the intended meaning of the song.

What is your first point, and how does it relate to your central thesis/question?

The rise of awareness in self-identity among the locals- This relates to the thesis in that it explains why the Hong Kong locals are no longer interested in Chinese national identity

What is your second point, and how does it relate to your central thesis/question?

Emergence of local parties in Hong Kong- The formation of these parties in Hong Kong show the need for independence from China.

If you have three or more points, name them here:

More conflicts between mainlanders and locals- the Hong Kong locals are unwilling to let mainlanders into the island.

Where in your paper are you describing your music, and how does it relate to your central thesis/question?

While describing the first point of rise in self-identity, I will describe the music and talk about how it shows that Hong Kong locals want independence from China.

What is your conclusion? In other words, what should your reader take away from the paper, and why will it matter to them?

Hong Kong’s need for independence from China. The song ‘Glory To Hong Kong’ has clearly shown that the Hong Kong locals value self-identity more than national identity.
