4. Alternative options for Mark to follow if Jack is not able to resolve the problem

Mark has high expectations from Jack and depending on the success of the project entirely on him. He believed nobody apart from Jack could resolve the problem and come up with a solution for a design for all the same doors for the aircraft (Kerzner, 2017). Mark could have followed a few alternative options that were available to him if his chief designer, Jack could not resolve the problem and come up with a solution. Mark could have assigned an alternative person or a team to handle the task in case Jack was not able to resolve the problem. Mark can also identify the problem and follow up complete research on it by dividing the problem into smaller matters and grouping the pieces together to try and arrive at a solution. He can utilize the services of different functional organizational groups and members of different groups with various expertise. This could create are source pool of the team which can be helpful for identifying the team members with potential who can work effectively to resolve the issue. An open discussion or challenge can be presented in front of the team to receive various opinions and feedbacks of the members in trying to reach a solution to the problem regarding the design of the aircraft doors (Larson & Gray, 2017). Such a forum can make everybody think beyond and various possible ideas can emerge from group discussions. The discussion could take place keeping in mind the obstacles and failures Jack faced while trying to resolve the issue.

5. Assigning the problem to someone else upon Jack not being able to complete it

Mark has placed complete belief in his chief designer of the project Jack for coming up with a solution to the problem of creating a design for the doors of the aircraft. Also, according to Mark if Jack is unable to complete the task then no one will be able to find a solution to the task and complete it. These high expectations of Mark from Jack make him look no further for any other options or alternatives (Kerzner, 2017). However, as Jack fails to come up with a solution for creating the design of the aircraft doors after a second opportunity Mark will have to look for other options to try and complete the task by coming up with a solution from someone else. This is necessary as even though the mixes of effective business are very costly and can raise a problem for the company it allows the organization to recognize the gains from other members (Fleming & Koppelman, 2016). The creation of a design for the doors of the can lead to various new sales opportunities for the McRoy Aerospace while lowering the life-cycle costs which are present for the maintenance of aircraft. Hence giving an opportunity to enter into the business venture of commercial aviation. It would hence make sense to give the problem to someone else after giving Jack a chance twice to come up with a solution as factors like the preparations of the tasks, the time taken for completion of the project and the budget are important and need to be considered.
