Project Name: E-Commerce Software Application
Project Manager: (Your Name)
Details of Project
Project Aim or Objective
Detail the overall aim or objective of the project. This should be a short statement that captures exactly what the project must accomplish (e.g. implement a new performance management system to be used throughout the organization).
The overall objective of the project is to develop an e-commerce software application for a small business to be able to sell its products online.
Project Deliverables
Detail what will be delivered as a result of the project (e.g. a software system to record performance information and produce metrics; a training package to upskill all managers to use the new system).
The project deliverable is a functional e-commerce application. It should allow customers to view the company’s products, including pricing, availability, and product details. Customers should be able to select products displayed on the website, add them to a shopping cart, and complete the purchase online using standard payment methods such as credit cards.
Time Frame
List the time frame of project from start to finish.
6 months
Budget
List the total budget for the project.
$800,000
Out of Scope
Detail what will not be delivered as a part of the project (e.g. access for front-line staff; functionality to complete performance review forms online).
Integration with third party e-commerce websites and social media websites will not be included in this phase of the project. This functionality will be offered in the second phase of the project, later in the year.
Business Case
Justify the project.
The company has been successful in selling its products in stores. Enabling customers to purchase products online will increase the company’s revenues and profitability, making it more competitive in the marketplace.
External Dependencies
Detail any factors with the organization that are needed to ensure the success of the project (e.g. IT company to design and build a platform to host software).
There is a dependency on suppliers for some of the company’s products, which are manufactured by a contract manufacturing company, to provide product details such as images and pricing.
Project Team
Identify the core project team. Generally, this will be the managers of each work package within the project (e.g. communication, IT, operations, training).
