Narcotic Use – Employee attacks on patients while under the influence
As you know, the abuse of narcotics is on the rise. Recently, we dealt with an incident involving staff attacking patients while under the influence. To tackle this issue, I would like to propose and spearhead a compliance plan that will better support a “no tolerance policy.” The compliance plan will include training the workforce to recognize the signs of abuse, conduct diversion audits, implement assistance programs and installing a hotline for reporting suspected abuse. By implementing a compliance plan such as this, the organization can alleviate incidents such as the one above, along with the legal ramifications and costs associated with such events.
Mission and Vision Statement – Employees not being able to discuss these statements on when asked
The mission and vision statements begin at the top of the organization and are the goals of which we promise to deliver to that of our stakeholders. Our problem indicates the possibility that employees are disengaged and that senior leaders are failing to actively promote and support the mission and vision of the organization. This lack of engagement could stem from the lack of communication at different levels from their own. Therefore, comprising a compliance plan that seeks to understand the what, when and how along with laying out a plan for the flow of communication throughout will shift the focus of disengagement to one of willingness to understand, believe and engage in the organization's mission and vision.
