Why you should Adopt

My Brittany, and it is an honor to share a topic that means a lot to me today. The subject area of my pitch is adoption, and by the end of it, I hope to convince everyone to embrace this noble act. My passion for the subject matter stems from the fact that I am a product of adoption, and I believe I am the right person to talk about it.

The world might not change if a child is adopted; however, the child’s world will undoubtedly change. I might exude confidence and passion in my speech when discussing adoption today, but it took me a while to free myself from being overwhelmed by the topic. One of the greatest blessings in my life came after my adoption. As a child, I was given to the foster care system, and I did not do much questioning to find answers. After all, it is upon us to flourish wherever we are planted. Despite not being a biological child to my mom, no one would ever found out this truth if none of us informed the world. Our meeting was destined since she changed my world when she took me and perfectly fit me into her world. Thanks to my mom, I did not get to experience life in the foster care system forever, but I am not sure if I would have got a chance to form long-term relationships. My world lit the day I was adopted, and I never looked behind ever since, working to make my mom proud and reciprocating her gift of life and love.

Parents who give their children for adoption are not always mean and selfish, but for some reasons prevent a child from experiencing a new lease of life different from theirs. People have the preconceived notion of viewing such parents from a negative perspective. It is better to give a child for adoption than subjecting the poor little thing to rejection, indifferent treatment, and insults due to being an illegitimate child. I acknowledge adults were in similar situations growing up and turned out well. However, everyone is unique, and the pressure might be overwhelming, especially for young mothers to commit abortion. For some parents, financial constraints make them consider the easy way out, and foster homes become their only solution. I faintly remember my biological mother but not in a positive way. Unfortunately, my biological mother had no choice but to give my brother and I up for adoption due to her addiction to drugs and prostitution. My mother took me with open arms and growing up; I was the pride in her eyes. When the time comes, I wish to adopt a child and continue the cycle of opportunities.

An adopted child could be the missing piece in your family’s jigsaw. The greatest commandment in the Bible is love. Not all people create the time to visit children in foster care to support them financially or emotionally. Most of the children in foster care have a longing for a family than the support they get. The benefits of adoption occur in two ways, to both the child and the parents. For the child, it is an opportunity to form a long-lasting bond in a stable family, while for the parents, it restores their honor and a blessing in life. If we spread the love by adopting new members into our families, the world will be a better place. Adoption allows you to develop vast bridges to families that are out of your grasp.
