Pitch Comment by [email protected]: The topic is not clear about what its pitching about. Comment by [email protected]: Lot of spacing.
Hi my name is Adam! If you’re a person trying to find a job, you may have experienced the anxiety and awkwardness of trying to sell yourself in a video interview. Unfortunately for people who dislike video interviews, they are not going away, in fact, more companies are now switching over to video interviews to save time and money when screening for potential candidates. In a recent study done by “Talent Now”, a recruiting agency for companies, they found that “60% of recruiters have turned to using video technology, 57% prefer live video interviews.’ But the most interesting piece of information is that only “9% of candidates prefer one-way pre-record video assessment tools” Most individuals are not alone when it comes to one-way video interviews. That’s why I am here today to help you ace your video interview by showcasing tips and techniques that will make you a more enticing candidate. Comment by [email protected]: Remove the exclamation sign. Comment by [email protected]: Good representation of facts
Now, before going into the tips and techniques, it is important to understand what video interviewing is and the different scenarios you may find yourself in.
· A one-way video is the type of interview that I mentioned earlier. It is you, the interviewee, recording your answers to questions that are placed in your screen
· The other format is the two-way interview, which is you being interviewed by another person through a video chat service.
This is important as you will have to adjust your demeanor as well as the way you will practice before the interview occurs. I will now outline the content by breaking down the two main points in my speech. It will consist of.
· Presentation Comment by [email protected]: Try to explain the points in the same place.
· Practice
Presentation
Presentation is the most important aspect of a video interview. You have the luxury of being able to conduct the interview at your home or anywhere else you might feel comfortable being. But comfort does not always mean professionalism. Take steps to make sure that your background is appropriate and clean, a potential employer does not want to see the mess in your room as that could be distracting. Another important aspect your attire. You should still wear what you would normally wear in an interview. If this is your first interview, then a few tips on what to wear for men, would be slacks, dress up shoes and a button down shirt with combed hair and a clean shave. Regardless of them being able to see your slacks or shoes, wearing them enforces the idea of a professional setting and can help your overall confidence. Comment by [email protected]: There’s some grammatical mistakes but the point is clear.
Practice
Practice makes perfect. Practice will be one of the defining factors on whether or not you will be prepared for your interview. Improvisation is always a risky approach to an interview, but in video interviews, it is almost a guaranteed way to a poor video interview. There is typically a forty-five second to one-minute prep time to help you gather your thoughts before answering a question. Instead of rushing within that timeframe, simply looking up common interview questions on the web can help you get an idea of what will be asked. With a reference of what type of questions will be asked, the next step is to practice your answers as well as your delivery in order to perfect their fluidity and authenticity. The final piece is to practice these techniques in front of a mirror or recording yourself in your webcam, if it is a one-way interview, you will most likely be seeing yourself on your screen. Practicing in front of a mirror or webcam can help you become acclimated to this. As a writer for “big interview” states, “This is why we highly recommend recording yourself multiple times to see what you’re doing and to become aware of anything that need toning down. Some gestures and behaviors that are fine in person can be distracting on video.” (Skillings) Paying careful attention to use gestures and delivery, you can infer where you need the most work. Comment by [email protected]: Clearly explained on how to take things into consideration for an interview. Plus the audience is clear.
Call to Action
In conclusion it is important for people to learn these ideas in order to further their career goals. Conducting a survey to collect data on people’s opinions about video interviews can help us adjust the areas in which most people need help in. I have laid out the two most important portions according to my sources but a survey could help up be even more articulate in the way we help people.
