Residency 3 Final Assignment

Your final assignment for Residency 3 is to complete the Research Design Alignment Table (RDAT). Each of the Residency Cohort Sessions will walk you through completing a portion of the RDAT. Be sure to keep the RDAT with you during each of the Cohort sessions to keep track of your responses. Your responses will evolve as you move through the Cohort sessions based on feedback from peers and faculty, which should assure alignment.

Be sure to review the questions for reflection on research design alignment following the RDAT to further assure research design alignment.

Review the Assignment Grading Rubric for criteria for evaluation.

Note. The information in the first column must align with all rows, and each individual RQ row must show alignment across the columns for that row.

Graphical user interface, application, Word Description automatically generatedOnce your Research Design Alignment Table is completed, reflect on your design alignment. Ask yourself:

1. Is there a logical progression from the research problem to the purpose of the study?

2. Does the identified framework ground the investigation into the stated problem?

3. Do the problem, purpose, and framework in the left-hand column align with the RQ(s) (all rows)?

4. Does each RQ address the problem and align with the purpose of the study?

5. Does the information across each individual row match/align with the RQ listed for that row?

· By row, will the variables listed address the RQ?

· By row, will the analysis address the RQ?

· By row, can the analysis be completed with the data points that will be collected?

Rubric Standard | Aligned > Do the various aspects of the prospectus align overall? The nature of the study should align with the problem, research questions, and tentative approaches to inquiry.

Research Problem and Purpose

One or more answers are missing, the answers are not acceptable (not on topic, not comprehensible, etc.), or the research problem and purpose are not aligned.

The answers are not on topic; or the research problem and purpose lack full alignment.

The research problem and purpose are on topic but lack full alignment.

The research problem and purpose are clearly stated and aligned. The research problem aligns with the student’s program of study.

Research Framework

One or more answers are missing, and/or the answers are not acceptable (not on topic, not comprehensible, and/or etc.), the research problem, purpose, and framework are not aligned.

The answers framework is not appropriate for the study, and/or the research problem, purpose, and framework lack full alignment.

The framework Is not appropriate for the study; and/or the research problem, purpose, and framework are not aligned.

The framework is appropriate for the study and the research problem, purpose, and framework are aligned.

Research Questions (RQs)

One or more answers are missing, and/or the answers are not acceptable (not on topic, not comprehensible, and/or etc.), the research problem, purpose, framework, and RQs are not aligned.

The RQs (and hypotheses, if appropriate) are not appropriate for the study, and/or the research problem, purpose, framework, and RQs lack full alignment.

The RQs (and hypotheses, if appropriate) are not appropriate for the study; and/or the research problem, purpose, framework and RQs are not aligned.

The RQs (and hypotheses, if appropriate) are appropriate for the study and the research problem, purpose, framework, and RQs are aligned.

Research Method & Design

One or more answers are missing, and/or the answers are not acceptable (not on topic, not comprehensible, and/or etc.), the research problem, purpose, framework, RQs, and research method & design are not aligned.

Data Analysis

There is no attempt made to describe a data analysis plan.

The data analysis plan does not align with the research method & design (e.g., the data analysis plan is qualitative, and the study is quantitative)

The data analysis plan is appropriate for the study but may lack detail.

The data analysis plan is appropriate for the study and details how it will be implemented.

Writing and APA

Message of writing is lost due to poor writing, grammar, and mechanics.

Inconsistent use of standard English obstructs presentation’s clarity and the reader’s understanding of ideas and/or inconsistent use of grammar and mechanics are evident throughout.

Consistent use of standard English and/or few inaccuracies in grammar and mechanics.

Use of standard English, grammar, and mechanics are at a scholarly level.

Grading: 30 points possible

Satisfactory (S)= All items at a score of 3 or above (Meets minimal expectations)

Unsatisfactory (U)= One or more items at a score of 2 or lower (Does not meet minimal expectations)
